We just moved and had to change plugs on my dryer from a 3 prong to a 4 prong. Now my dryer won't heat up. I think the breaker is ok.

Thre are two braekers (or a double breaker). Check / reset to be sure.

The plug may not have been installed corerctly.

If you are only getting 120v to the dryer, you still have a breaker tripped. It should be right next to the single pole 30. It takes 2 breakers to get the 240v you need to run the dryer. Try resetting another breaker expecially the ones marked 30amp. You do need to get a double pole breaker installed even for safety reasons.

I have a 4 prong dryer but the plug in the wall is a three prong, ibought a four prong plug and i dont know how to connect a three wire into a four prong plug please help me.. hugo

Do NOT try and change the receptacle please. It is dangerous and we do not want anyone getting hurt. In your case, it would be better to put a 3 prong cord on the dryer. Overall you could call an electrician to install the 4 prong receptacle, which will require new 4 conductor wire as well and run to the breaker box. Get a flat style 3 prong dryer cord and we'll tell you how to install it. Unless you call an electrician. ;-) If this helps you, please rate my answer. Thank you.

I was switching the electrical cord from a 3 prong to a 4 prong and grounded a hot wire. there was a big pop and now i cant get it to start. would i have blown it up?

WHy are you switching the cord from a 3 to a 4? If the dryer came with a 3 prong cord and its a 3 prong terminal block, then i dont think you can change it to a 4 becuase you will short circuit. DOes the terminal block where your cord was hooked up have 4 terminals. Each termial can only have one lead/wire to it. check your circiut breaker panel? Is the circiut breaker tripped?

Frigidaire GLEQ2152ES Dryer Won't Power UP

IF you find that you have only a 3 wire feed for this dryer (and the reason for the 3 prong receptacle)...then you can not properly install a 4 prong dryer cord to it. You now have 2 choices....either rewire (assuming that it is a 3 wire supply) the entire run from the dryer breaker to the outlet location with 4 wire (typically a run of 8/3 with ground having a black, red, white and bare ground)and install a 4 prong dryer receptacle to match the configuration of the new dryers cord.....OR - you can remove the 4 wire cord and replace it with a 3 wire cord....re-using the ground strap - IF it is still in place.

Four wires on the new cord.
Red and Black go to outside screws on the terminal.
White goes to the middle terminal.
Green goes to the cabinet ground screw near the terminal plate cover.

No heat-switched from 4 prong to 3 prong-Ground????

There should be a ground bonding ******** the Neutral (White) wire at the terminal block for 3-prong configuration. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r793520-3_prong_4_prong_power_cord_conversion

Read through the information, thoroughly. Instructions on how to convert from 4 to 3 prong are mentioned in the "Additional Notes" section. If you have questions, or require addtional assistance please let me know. I hope this helps you.
