Just had same promlem with old crafsman. took the valve apart and the stopper was deteriorated. Cut the tip of a yellow wire nut using that as the stopper put it back together and works fine.. Should have done it 10 years ago....

Check with the manufacturer web site ...

You are going to have to remove the existing valve to replace it ... get started on it ...

You will probably find it is rusted because 'someone' didnt use the oil they were suppose to put in BEFORE and AFTER each use. Maybe you can get it cleaned up enough to function without replacing it.

I hope this helps you

At what torque should lug nuts be tightened

    • 1 Check the maximum pressure rating of the air tank. The rated pressure is indicated in pounds per square inch (psi). If there is no indication of limit on the tank, do not use it.
    • 2 Drain any accumulated moisture from the compressed air tank before filling. If the tank has no drain valve, you may skip this step.
    • 3 Remove the cap from the fill valve. The valve is the same size and type as used on automobile tires. The location of the valve differs depending on manufacturer.
    • 4 Attach the fitting of the air supply hose to the valve stem of the air tank and depress the fitting firmly. If the air tank has its own pressure gauge installed, keep a close watch to avoid over-pressurizing. Wear safety glasses when filling the air tank.
    • 5 Stop filling the air tank periodically and check the tank pressure using an air pressure gauge if the tank does not have one installed. As the air pressure in the tank increases, check more frequently until the maximum amount is reached.
    • 6 Remove the air supply fitting and replace cap.

3/8 air rachet will not stop spining

The ratchet needs repair. I would check the throttle lever valve inside. Either the spring inside or the valve o-ring are worn out.

It keeps spining will not stop

Air rachet? The valve probably got something in it and won't shut down the air flow. You will have to take the valve portion apart and clean it out. Look for any bad o-rings while you have it tore apart.

When air is turned on it wont stop turning

The trigger valve is leaking. Disassemble it and find if the seal has failed or is sticking. This is a fairlky common problem with air tools,
ake sure you ALWAYS out air tool oil in the tools daily.

I have a brand new husky 1/2'' air ratchet. It was working fine yesterday and today I went to use it, no go. When I hit the trigger, air just shoots out of the release port. The ratchet does not turn. ...

There could be a couple of things wrong with it. First and foremost make sure your compressor has the correct cfm's to operate the tool. Psi is only half the battle when it comes to air tools. Second, make sure that your reversing switch on the ratchet is properly engaged. Sometimes it will get stuck in the middle. You may have a crimped hose so check the hose. There may have been debris in the line that got into the motor. If this is the case, then you are going to need to have to take it apart to see what is wrong. If you just bought it though you should take it back to Home Depot. I had a customer who basically had the same thing happen. He used the ratchet twice and the valve pin cap just popped off. It is plastic and just broke in two. I tried to look up the part and it is unavailable. Husky is made by Campbell Hausfeld for Home Depot. Sometimes it is not that easy to get parts for certain models. I believe they make a run of tools and then discontinue the line they just made, and do not make parts available. You could try taking it back to Home Depot and swapping it out for a new one. Or my suggestion would be get your money back and by a better brand ratchet like IR or CP.

My 1/4 ratchet operates with air applied, without moving the pin. The pin and spring are there and free. This ratchet has sat in my tool box for 10+ years. Was there a plastic "ball" that used to be in...

Most CP ratchets have an oring that seals the trigger valve. You can remove the screw on the top of the trigger and then remove the spring and valve pin. There should be an oring around the bell of this pin. You can probably get away with using any oring that is the same size, and not having to get the exact oring from the manufacturer.
