Norelco 5822 XL - need new battery, but can't determine how to take apart!

There are just two screws on the back. Remove the screws to take off the back cover. You can then access the batteries.

You will find replacement batteries at See link below

If you are not able to complete the repair yourself, can do this also. See link below

Batery replacement

Some soldering is required. If you are capable, you can do it yourself or you can have it professionally done. offers the batteries or repair service. See links below

If you decide to have it professionally done, you can simply purchase the repair service from the website and follow the instructions for sending it in to the company.

If you do it yourself, you will need to remove the two screws on the back of the shaver to remove the back cover. You will the see the batteries andwhere they are connected to the circuit board.
You may find it easy to use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather that removing them from the circuit board. You can use a small flat screwdriver or similar object to do this. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves their tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

Red LED stays on

Sounds like the rechargeable batteries are aged out, and no longer able to develop a full charge, and soon will be needing replacement.
A repair center might likely do it for you for a fee, but see "Self Repair" on site:
