Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

Don't want an expert. I wan someone with authority that can make an intelligent decision regarding the way you sell replacement filters. It looks as though the patients are running the ward at HQ. This freak insane! Maniacal and just plain stupid! Tell me something Mr Expert, my closest choice was "vacuum expert" How is this expert going to know and fix the asinine way b&d devised a plan so that the consumer would enjoy wasting a better part of their day. Who, please tell me, who with a drop of common sense would have a product sold at a retail store, and we're not talking some high tech **** here, not even a high end vacuum cleaner, we're talking about a piece of junk built in china dust"F...ing"buster here. And I can't walk back into the store for a filter, I have to call some toll free number between certain hrs. Well screw you! I'm giving the heave ho to this piece of debris in a moment and vow to never EVER purchase anything b&d has anything to do with. But when things go bad, social networking sites change everything!

Did you pay to get into this site? Have you contacted your retailer? Have you looked at the manufacturers web site? Did you look at the hardware store? Why in the world did you buy something so hot that you can only get parts under the circumstances you describe above. Someone twist your arm? Do you know that we posters are unpaid volunteers? What is your trouble? Id like to help you if you can stop being mad for 10 seconds. Exactly what is your question???

Ouch! So go into Lowes get a 10 pack of electrostatic register vent filters back in the furnace filter section. Take your old filter off and if it's a paper corrugated looking cone just wash it really good and dry it out...if it's disintegrating then just get a vac that doesn't have crappy paper filters. There are only about three or five models with paper filters anyway. Alright, get out your elmers glue and in needed cut and stack and place a couple drops of glue to hold the layers together. Never stack more than 3 thick. Good luck...and buy a Rainbow D4, a Filterqueen Magestic, Or a Kirby G4, or my favorite, a Eureka Vibragroomer- The BEST VAC EVER MADE...except the D4

How can I replace the rechargeable battery?

Hi There,
Officially Electrolux don't want to sell the batteries so they discount the price of the hand held unit. Here in Australia they are called ergo rapido but it will be the smae everywhere I would assume. They will sell the battery on its own but it is more expensive than replacing the hand held part (without the filters) .

DC07 works very well but cuts out after about 8-10 minutes. will restart after a time. This m/c belongs to an elderly blind friend. Looking forward to your comments. Mike

Hi Mike, I'm sorry to hear your friend is having difficulties with their DC07. Like most Dyson cleaners, DC07 is equipped with a safety device which shuts off the cleaner if it starts to overheat. This may be due to a blockage, or because the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide: http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-SY-HEPA_US The filter should be washed in cold water without any detergent, at least once every 3-6 months. Always ensure it's totally dry before replacing it - this may take up to 12 hours. By clearing any obstructions and washing the filter, you should be able to resolve the issue without further assistance. However, if you've followed these steps and are still concerned, or if your friend would prefer to speak to someone in person for guidance, it's probably best to get in touch with us directly. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US). One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone and recommend the best course of action. Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. You might find it helpful to check the cleaner for blockages, since these could affect performance and may mean the filter needs washing more often than usual. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the steps shown in our online guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=954&product=DC17-ANIMAL

It's also a good idea to take a look at the video linked below, which demonstrates the correct way to wash the filters. Under normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months. Use cold water without detergents, and make sure it's totally dry before replacing it.

How do I check the bearings and clutch of my Dyson DC17 Animal (older purple version). I have the brush bar off but don't know what to do next.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. This model is not fitted with a clutch, and we wouldn't recommend attempting to service the bearings as this could damage to the machine. If you're concerned about the performance of the cleaner, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to askdysonUS@dyson.com, someone will be in touch with you as soon as possible. We'll look forward to hearing from you.

I have a Dyson upright DC07. The unit just shut off in the midle of vaccuum. I have check the outlet and I don't have any problems. What advice so you have to help resolve this problem.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. From what you've described, it sounds like the thermal cutout may have activated. Most Dyson cleaners have this safety feature which shuts off the machine if it overheats. This usually occurs if the machine is blocked, or if the filter needs a wash. The easiest way to check for and remove any blockages is to follow the simple steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=4&product=DC07-SY-HEPA_US

It's also a good idea to wash the filter - please take a look at the video embedded below to see the correct way to do this. Under normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3 months.

Hopefully this should resolve your issue. However, if you're still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly so one of our experts can run through some troubleshooting checks over the phone with you. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

PLEASE SEND INFORMATION ON PURCHASING REPLACEMENT BELT

There is a website that will sell it to you for 6.00 for one. I just googled Fantom Twister and just look for parts. They have the filters and belts. That is about all we can get for our fantom. Just wish someone would repair these vacums.
