Go get Network Magic free download eval version. It will allow you to do stuff that netrwork managers wish they could do.

192.168.0.1 may not be your address ... unless you set it statically. Most assignments are dynamic ... I guess you know that at some level.

So, I say get the free evaluation copy (read the deal while you are there) I use the paid pro version and I love it.

lete me know what happens

192 168 254

There should be four sets of numbers each seperated by a dot. These are the address of your router which will allow you to configure the router as you wish. Follow explanation below.

Broadband router manufacturers generally allow users to setup and configure the router settings through their web browsers. You just have to connect the browser to your computer and enter the default private IP address in the address bar of your browser.
The default IP address is factory set and is usually begins with 192.168. Some of the popular brands as given below use 192.168.1.254 as their default private IP Address.
  • some 3Com OfficeConnect routers
  • Netopia / Cayman Internet gateways
  • Billion ADSL routers
  • Linksys SRW2024 managed switches
  • Westell modems for Bellsouth DSL Internet service in the U.S.

192.168.1.254 Router Password

Alongwith the default Private IP Address, these manufacturers also set a default username and password. Users are allowed to change these default password settings. But in case they forget the changed admin and password details, they can use the hardware reset button to change all the settings to the default settings. In this process the password is also reset to the factory default value

MY PS3 WILL NOT LET ME SIGN IN. BUT I HAVE NOT CHANGED MY PASSWORD OR EMAIL ADDRESS. WHAT IS CAUSING THIS?

Lately I've seen alot of problems with people having a hard time signing in. Just a tidbit of background, the PS3 is very sensitive when it comes to the wifi card and network card sensitive enough that some modems, routers and modem/router combos have a very hard time allowing the PS3 to function online correctly. Now to get to the fix: unplug all cables from the modem and router for approximately 20 seconds and then plug all cables back in, modem 1st the router. Let the modem and router cycle through its powering and connection routine and then see if your PS3 will sign in. If it won't connect the the PS3 server still then find the reset button on the back of your modem/router or router if its 2 seperate devices and take a ball point pen and press the reset button in and hold it for no more than 9 seconds, allow the devices to cycle through and then try your PS3. If it still doesn't work then do the reset thing again but hold the reset button in for 15seconds this will put the device back to the factory setting (which if you use a passphrase, there will no longer be a passphrase and will make your network unsecure. You can put a new passphrase in using a PC and entering 1 of these 2 ip addresses in the web address bar 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 those are the 2 common ip addresses. Then go into the wireless tab and follow the intructions. If those ip addresses don't work then on your PC click on the start menu and in the search box type in cmd which will bring up a DOS prompt (Any Windows version XP and older you would type it into the run box) type this in exactly as I do ipconfig you ip address is the Default Gateway and thats the number you will type into the web address bar. NOTE; the most comon username and password to get into the modem or router is admin, admin. Comcast is admin, password1.

My router stop working every day at a specific time and then after few hours it starts to work again

Log into your router, if you do not know the ip address of your router, open command prompt, type ipconfig, hit enter and you look at the default gateway, that is the ip address of your router. put that into the address bar of IE and sign into your router. Once you are in, check the security tab for timing settings.

How can I play with two xbox at the same time? Right now when both are on xbox live one has a strict NAT and the other is open how do I set up my router so both can play with open NAT?

NAT (Network Address Translation) allows your router to use one IP address with your ISP, but assign internal IP addresses to your devices using DHCP. When you refer to "strict NAT" I have to assume you mean that the device has a static (set) IP. If you want them both to work at the same time, you'll have to set each xbox to accept DHCP addressing (ie., dynamic IP addresses) and make sure your router is set to perform as a DHCP server (which it probably is...that's the default).

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.

Wireless security enabled and lan not able to work together

Try to set up an IP reservation for your ethernet using the MAC address of your NIC, this way the router can't steal it for the WLAN.

Mkae sure that if the router is run as a DHCP server that there are suffcient on IP address range to allow extra PC's to be leased an IP address.

I suggest that you disable in WZCSVC on both your wired PC and wireless PC and use the laptops own NIC connection software and the routers WEP or WPA-PSK to allow you to connect your wireless

My ps3 internet doesn't work

Easy Pie! This is a cinch anda guarantee work through. It involves putting your PS3 into a DMZ (demilitarized zone) which simply means opening all of the ports on it.

If you have the following problems, this is likely to fix it.
  • Not being able to join rooms
  • Not being able to speak over your headset
  • Not being able to hear other people over their headset
  • Not being able to join private games
  • Any problems to do with connectivity to the PSN, especially if your computer will connect to the internet, but your PS3 won't.

Part 1-(On PS3)
  • Firstly, you will need to assign your PS3 a static internal IP address. Normally whenever a device connects to your router it will be assigned a different internal IP address. These are normally 192.168.1.2, 192.168.1.3, 192.168.1.4 and so on. Assigning a static one will ensure that your PS3 will get the same one every time it connects.
  • Go to the "Settings > Network Settings > Internet Connection Settings" option on the PS3 XMB. Choose whether you are using wireless or wired.
  • Both selections should show a page called "Address Settings". Here you will need to select "Custom". Another page will then display entitled "IP Address Setting". The option "Manual" will need to be selected.
  • This will display a page where customizable IP Addresses are available to be entered.
  • IP Address - This will need to have the Static IP address in it. Use 192.168.1.80, simply because it is unlikely that 80 other devices will be connected at the same time.
  • Subnet Mask - always set to 255.255.255.0
  • Default Router - Is the internal IP Address of your router.
    1. To get the exact ip of your router you should go to
    2. Start
    3. Run
    4. cmd [Hit Enter]
    5. Type in ipconfig and hit enter, this should come up with all the ip addresses to do with your computer and the network. The address you will need to enter in this option is listed as "Default Gateway".

  • Primary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router"
  • Secondary DNS - Same IP Address as "Default Router"
  • Proxy When you get to the proxy screen, select "Do not use Proxy"
  • MTU Automatic
  • UPnP Enabled

Part 2-(On PC)
  • In your Internet Browser, type the address of your default gateway, this will take you to your Router Configuration Page. Look for any mention of DMZ
  • When you have found this, it will ask you for the Static IP of the DMZ host. This is simply the Internal IP that you assigned your PS3. We used 192.168.1.80.
  • Finally, turn off your Router, PC and PS3 for a few minutes to ensure that the new settings are loaded. Then you're ready to go!

Net gear router won't install properly and will not let me use the internet

Hi,

You may want to try:
  • If both your router and modem have DHCP features enabled, disable the one in the modem;
  • manually set the Internet/WAN IP add of the router to follow the IP add of the modem;
  • manually set the default gateway of the Internet/WAN side of the router to use the IP add of the modem;
  • set the PCs connected to the router to automatically obtain IP adds.
  • verify that the PCs uses as their default gateway the IP add of the router.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

How do I setup filters on my wireless router?

IP Filters IP filters block access to ports or a series of ports from an IP address on the LAN. For example, if you did not want the computer with IP address 192.168.0.100 to access the Internet, then you would block that IP address from accessing port 80. Step 1 Open a web browser and type the IP address of the wireless router in the address bar (default is 192.168.0.1). Press Enter. Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the default password is blank (nothing). Click OK. Step 3 Click the Advanced tab and then click Filters to the left. Step 4 Select IP Filters using the radio buttons. Step 5 Select the Enabled radio button. Step 6 In the first field next to IP enter the IP address you want to block access from. If you want this to apply to a range of IP addresses, then enter the ending IP address in the second field. Step 7 In the first field next to Port enter the port you want to block. To block a range of ports, enter the ending port number in the second field. Then select the protocol type (TCP, UDP, or Both) using the drop-down list next to Protocol Type.
