Simply find a pdf blowup of the dyson online and get out your screwdriver. It can be fun and you will learn your vacuum at the same time. Get a hair dryer and dry it all out and reassemble. EASY

I have the Dyson Kinetic Big Ball Animal and it smells so bad of wet dogs. There are no filters to clean and it stinks the whole house out. I will never buy a Dyson again. Please help!

Don't blame the vacuum, blame the dogs for getting wet. But seriously, you may have to make a heavy application of disinfectant spray inside the machine. Aterwards, the entire house will have the delightful odor of disinfectant but at least the wet dog odor will be gone.

Dc59 I removed the clear canister but the inside with the chambers with a mesh cover are filled with a fine powder. How to I clean?

I have the same buildup of very fine, powderlike, dust/dirt particles behind the mesh screen.

I do not doubt your technological explanation as to why/how this accumulation has occurred but there is another issue created by this buildup and an concern to go with it.

The issue is that this accumulation literally stinks. We have 4 cats and a dog which is likely why there is such an odor. There must be a way to remove this stuff.

The concern is that, after putting up with the stinky Dyson and the continued accumulation, the "dust" will eventually completely fill the space behind the mesh screen. When that screen is completely filled is the only solution we have is to spend another $600 for a new Dyson?

The Dyson is not your typical disposable technology that we often buy today. We chose to spend the extra $ for the Dyson because of the spirit cleaning of the unit. Had we known the unit would, within 6 mos., begin to stink and would likely need to be thrown away within two years we would have purchased a less expensive brand.

Since we have learned now that Dysons are stinky and disposable units we can run it under water, let it dry and hope for the best?

Why does my dyson filter smell of dog *** when i let it dry before replacing it after washing

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

As you'll probably be aware, DC59 has one washable filter, engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum. We recommend washing this at least once a month using cold water without detergent, as shown in the video below:

Always allow the filter to dry completely before replacing it - this may take at least 24 hours. Replacing the filter when damp could cause damage to the machine not covered under guarantee, and could also contribute to any odour coming from the vacuum. It may help to place the filter somewhere warm to dry, such as by a radiator, in an airing cupboard or on a sunny window sill.

Please note, the cyclone pack and clear bin should never be washed or submerged in water as this could cause permanent damage to the vacuum. However, it is possible to separate the clear bin from the cyclone pack as shown below. You can then use a soft brush to remove any fluff or debris from the mesh shroud, and you can wipe the inside of the clear bin with a damp cloth to remove any clinging dust particles. Make sure the bin is completely dry before reassembling.

Cant take wand of hose on dyson 24

Hi Pat, it's Jack at Dyson.

This sounds very unusual as the wand should release easily from the hose cuff - just press the red catch on the hose cuff to disengage it: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/how-to-use-accessories/the-combination-tool/how-to-use-the-combination-tool-step-2

If you're unable to remove the wand at all, please give the Dyson customer Helpline a call so our experts can provide further assistance. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

I have the Dyson DC 28. After cleaning out the filter multiple times I still had the wet dog smell coming out from the vacuum. I called Dyson's support line. The rep told me to put dryer sheets in the clear plastic bin and let it run for about 5-10 mins, make sure the bin is clear of all debris first. I did it and it worked. Not only is the smell gone, the dryer sheets removed all the remaining dust stuck in the bin. I was happy!

Hi there,

You should be able to clear the blockage in your DC24 hose by following these simple steps: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/help.asp?article=1513&product=DC24-ALLFLOORS

This should resolve the issue, but if you need any further help or advice, please get in touch with us, free, on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can provide assistance.

Stinks!

Cleaning and replacing the bag may help-it sounds like it may have gotten wet at one time. You couls also sprinkle baking soda lightly over your carpet and that may help absorb odours in the system. If the hose is detachable and any other pieces you can wash them with a vinegar solution.
Hope that helps. tc
