Question about Poulan Garden

1 Answer

I have a Pouland-Pro chainsaw, with a 35cc engine and a 16'' bar. The saw will start and run at idle, but as soon as I give it any throttle it dies. The plug is new and the gas mixture is fresh and mixed to the factory specks. The fuel lines are open and gas flowes freely through them.

I would do 2 things. First I would turn both the H and L carb adjustment screws all the way in, do this gently so you don't bend them and then turn them both out 1 1/2 turns. The second thing is to make ure your air filter is clean of all sawdust. This should get it running better. hope this helps you...

Installed new carb-saw will idle fine, but will not rev.Idle scew has no effect on r.p.m.As soon as you hit the throttle, saw dies.Almost act's like the chain brake is on but it is dissengaged.Both...

There are a few things to check, if the muffler has a spark arrester gauze in the out let this may well be blocked, remove the muffler and the gauze, does the engine now rev? if yes either the park arrester is blocked or the muffler itself is blocked, if this does not cure it, check the flow of fuel from the tank to the new carb, replace the filter in the fuel tank and try again, if this does not help try running the saw with the air filter removed, if it revs normally the filter is blocked.

I have an old McCullough chain saw 12 or 14 inch chain length. What is the oil to gas ratio I need to use? 50:1? 40:1? What do you recommend? I can't see any serial number or identifying numbers so the...

Run 40:1 using fresh fuel and a modern synthetic saw oil--mix it in it's own can and be sure to shake the can thoroughly each time just before refilling the tank. Don't mix up more than a gallon unless your business is sawing. You may need to deal with a plugged fuel filter if it won't start. The oiler button was intended to supplement the pumped bar oil when cutting thick/difficult wood. Normally, it is not needed. To start, set the choke full on until you hear a pop, then back the choke off about half way before the next pull (don't forget to set the fast idle button near the throttle--squeeze the throttle, push the button and hold while releasing the throttle). As soon as you squeeze the throttle again, that will release the fast idle, so make sure the engine is warmed up and the choke off before hitting the throttle. This engine will drive a 16" bar and chain, so upgrade when the original parts wear out. Hope some of this helps!

Chain saw carburator settings for husqvarna 61

Turn both screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and the engine should start and run. Allow the engine to warm up, then pull the throttle full on. Turn the H jet screw CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-strokes. Proper adjustment occurs when the engine is 4-stroking, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. This gives best power and lowest heat. Release the throttle and adjust L jet CW until the engine idles fairly well, but will allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Adjust idle speed screw so that the chain stops turning, but the engine continues to run. Hope this helps!

142 chain saw. Starts but will not pick up when

Check the fuel lines for hardness, cracking, splitting, or end rot. Check the muffler for plugging. Check the carburetor fasteners for tightness. Are you using fresh fuel mix? If the carburetor jets have been adjusted, try turning both CW to stops (lightly) then back out each CCW 1-1/2 turns. Engine should start and run--allow to warm up. Pull the throttle full on, and adjust H needle CW until the engine starts to speed up, but still 4-strokes. Proper adjustment is when the engine 4-strokes, but immediately 2-strokes when cutting. Let idle and adjust L CW for fairly smooth running, but still allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Hope this helps!

The saw starts and runs on fast idle but dies when you use the throttle? it,s a troybilt 18in saw

It sounds like it is flooding when you use the throttle, both are connected. Turn the idle back all the way until it dies, then try turning it a 1/4 turn the other direction.

New saw every time I stop cutting the engine switches off.

What you are saying is that the engine does not idle, it dies on you when you are not giving it throttle ?
A few things it could be, you need to check that the bar oil is lubing the chain and sprocket, you need to make sure the clutch is not hanging up, and you need to be sure your idle screw is set properly.
Please let me know if these work.

I have predator and wont start

Does it have good compression? Is the muffler plugged? Is the spark plug wet after trying to start? If not, try a little starting fluid in the plug hole, and try to start. If you get a few pops, try resetting the carburetor H and L jet screws each 1-1/2 turns out from CW stops. It should run with these settings. Warm the engine up, then apply full throttle and adjust H CW until it runs fast, but 4-stroking. It should smooth out when cutting. Next, set idle L for fairly smooth idle, yet follow the throttle without lag. Adjust idle speed just below chain movement. Hope this helps.

I would like to know how to adjust the carburator of McCulloch 3516 chainsaw 35cc/cm 46759-77

the carbuator has two 2 adjusting screws on it.one is high side and the other is low side.start by turnig them both in until they touch bottom.now turn them both out 1 1/2 turns.this should start and run saw.throttle saw up to full throttle and adjust high side in until you get the best RPM out of saw.do not adjust high side any less then 7/8 turn out from bottom.if you do you will burn saw up from to lean burn.once the high sie is set now adjust low side until the saw will idle by it's self.let me know if this helped you.......
