Nail in the tire

This is a Jazzy 1101 and there is a nail in the back tire. My question is can the tire be taken off and a tire place put a plug in it? The owner is in a nursing home and has limited funds. No, this is not a solid tire as the is a PSI number on the side of the tire.

Tube or tubeless?

Tubeless ... get some "slime" from the auto parts store. A small bottle will do. Follow the instructions on the container. You might want to get a can of "inflator" but be careful with it.

Tube type ... you can probably patch it. Go to same auto parts place and get a Slime patch (near the slime).

If they dont know what you are talking about ... go to a real auto parts place.

Hope this helps your friend

How to repair a tire

Occasionally, we all run over a nail or a screw on the road. Repairing the tire with a plug is a very simple repair which requires almost no technical ability. Follow these steps, and you will be driving again in no time.

1. Buy a tire plug kit from your local auto parts store. The kit comes with the plugging tools, glue, and several plugs.

2. Raise the tire off the ground so you can rotate the tire. It is easiest to repair the tire off the car, but it is possible to do it on the car as well.

3. Locate the puncture. Simply rotate the tire until you find the nail or screw.

4. With a pair of pliers (side cutters work best), remove the nail.

5. It may be necessary to **** (clean and enlarge) the puncture. For this, use the round tool that looks like a file. Simply insert the tool into the hole and twist it back and forth. Push the tool all the way through the tire tread.

6. Take a plug from the kit and fit it into the hook of the second tool. It should be approximately centered on the tool. Coat the plug generously with glue and push the tool and plug into the hole in the tire. Do not push the tool too deep, as the plug will fall off of the tool inside the tire. The plug should be inserted deep into the tire, but the two ends of the plug should protrude from the tread at least 1/2" (13 mm). Remove the tool, leaving the plug in the tire.

7. Inflate the tire to full operating pressure and watch for leaks. A second plug may be necessary on large punctures.

8. Reinstall the wheel on the car and lower the car to the ground. After tightening the lug nuts and putting everything away, you are ready to drive the vehicle again.

Flat tires

If you have a flat tire before you go to the trouble of taking the tire off the vehicle buy and keep a tire repair kit for tubless tires. If you get a flat, jack up vehicle and find problem with tire. Ninety percent of the time it is a nail in the tire. With tire still on the vehicle pull out nail and follow instructions to put patch in. ( ex. pull nail out. put glue on tool supplied. place in hole. put patch on tool and dunk in glue. Insert patch into hole and twist to insert patch. Cut off excess patch. Your done. Inflate tire. ) This saves you time and money and is as good a fix as you will get at a garage. Good Luck

What is the clicking sound in my right tire on my ninety four acura vigor ?

Without looking at the tire or actually hearing whether or not the "clicking": is coming from the tire, I'd have to say that most likely your tire has taken on a hitchhiker: a screw or nail that is "clicking" when it taps the the ground with each tire rotation. Does the speed of the clicking speed up and slow down concurrently with your speed? Have you had to fill the tire lately or semi-regularly? Inspect the tire carefully tread and sidewalls and between the treads....If you do find a screw or nail, don't pull it out as it's all that's keeping you air from really coming out. If you can safely drive, take the car to your selection of tire/auto shops/mechanics, or perhaps put on the spare if you'd feel more safe. As long as the puncture isn't on the side wall or too extensive (and there's actual life in the tread still!) they should easily, quickly and CHEAPLY be able to plug the puncture for you and have you back on the road again in no time!

Good luck!

I ran over a nail, and now my back tire has a slow leak, can it be repaired with a plug or does the tire need to be removed for repair? Tire has spokes.

Although most motorcycle tires can be repaired, it's a good idea for safety purposes to use an inner tube in addition to having the tire repaired. I got a nail hole in the rear tire of my 2003 Deuce and had the hole repaired and added an inner tube, and it lasted that way with NO LEAKS for nearly two years, at which point I sold the bike.

Clunking from left drive wheel on my 3/4 ,omth old Jazzy Select Powerchair. Any suggestion what it might be?

Check end disigagement lever is fully home in the drive mode. Remove wheel and check the drive key and when reassembling put plenty of grease on all the wheel drive components ie key/ key slot and shaft. make sure wheel nut is tight. or it could be something stuck in tyre like a stone or something sharp like a screw, nail or most common is a drawing pin.

You can plug any tire as long as it's on the tread face, not in the sidewall. The repair person will know. It makes no difference whether you have TPMS.

Ttr 125 had bad tire

check the tyre for a nail or whatever punctured the first tube, when you remove the tube keep it in the same position as it was when it was in the tyre, blow it up and check the hole then check the corresponding place in the tyre for the nail

If the new hole is a small split you may have damaged it during fitting

be careful not to pinch the new tube when fitting
