Question about Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Console

2 Answers

PSP will only power on about 10% of the time...

I got this psp with no info on it at all. Just the psp, battery,32mb memory stick and charger. Anyway, when I got the psp home I tried to turn it on and the green light would come on along with the screen and sound for about 5 sec then shut down. I tried to charge it and the same thing would happen. When I charge it the orange light comes on for about 10 min then shuts off. I bought a new battery and same thing happened. A friend told me it sounds like my battery was getting connection so I cleaned the terminals with alcohol and it worked. PSP was fine for about 2 weeks, Then started to do the same thing again. Now even if I clean the terminals it doesn't help. If the psp sits for a few weeks without being touched it will power on for a few sec then shut back down. I even tried to remove the battery and turn it on but it came on briefly then shut back down. If the psp does come on and work ok once you power it off or move it in the wrong way it shuts down and will not come back on. Please help someone. How can I fix this problem? I'll do it myself if possible. Thanks Sorry for the long message.

When i turn on my psp the green light will come on but the screen won't come on and then a few seconds later the green light will shut off completely.

Hi tokyo_grl,
First you have to figure out what is causing the problem. Try the following steps.

1. Remove anything that is connected to the PSP, including the
Memory Stick, battery and any UMD games.
2. Plug the charger into both the wall and the PSP system, then wait for at least 30 seconds before turning the psp on.
--If the PSP turns on, your problem is not with your PSP, but with an accessory that was previously attached. If it does not turn on, your PSP is in need of a repair.
3. Next, unplug the power adapter from the PSP, and firmly place the battery into the PSP.
4. Plug in the Power Adapter once again, and wait at least 30 minutes for the PSP to begin charging, then try and power on the PSP system.
--If the PSP does not power on with the battery plugged in, but it did with just the charger, you need a new battery. If it powers on, do the next step.
5. Place the Memory Stick inside the PSP , and turn on the power. If the PSP does not turn on, but it turned on without the memory, you need a new memory stick.

If your PSP did not turn on during step 2, your PSP is bricked and indeed needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

Games of my psp sony

The best PSP game download site I've found actually includes the software that you need to transfer the PSP files to your portable gaming system, making it one neat little package.

And remember that, to build your PSP library, it's an excellent idea to buy a bigger memory stick, because the default one is only 32MB. A 512MB memory stick, or higher, is a must if you really want to download lots of free stuff for your PSP.

When my psp is updating , the power turn off and psp doesn't turn on

Try this:
Remove the PSP battery and memory stick from the device. You will use these again so keep them close.
Insert the magic memory stick into the PSP card reader. The memory stick holds the firmware that will be flashed onto the PSP.
Insert the pandora battery and the PSP will turn on automatically. Press the "X" button twice to flash the firmware to the PSP. Press "X" again to shut down the PSP.
Reinsert the normal battery and memory stick and turn the PSP back on. Plug the PSP into its charger and go through the normal update process again by selecting "System Update" on the PSP menu.

No source will read my memory stick pro duo mark 2

  1. Try re-formatting your memory stick from your PSP console. A memory stick that is formatted from a PC or other hand held console sometimes cause incompatibility problem with the PSP.
  2. If your PSP still can not read the memory stick, try checking your memory stick by using your friends PSP and see if they can access the memory stick.
  3. If the memory stick can be accessed by your friends PSP then there is a problem with the memory slot of your PSP.
  4. The only way to check the contacts of the memory slot of your PSP is to disassemble you PSP and take out the mother board.

My psp wont turn on

Your PSP has just bricked. It may cause an error while you're upgrading your PSP or while playing the game.

Try this:
1. Pull the battery out.
2. Let it turn on while charging.
3. If your PSP LED power indicator turned on for 10-20 secs and the screen not turn on, it means you're really bricked it.
4. So what do you do?
5. You need extra PSP for making pandora battery and jigkick memory stick.
6. You'll need this link: http://www.psp-hacks.com/2007/10/16/pandoras-ultimate-magic-stick-installer/

TADA! answer 4 u.
It's your battery. Take out your battery from the psp and look on the back of it. If, at the top, it says PSP-S110 and at the bottom it says made in China, be bummed. That's what mine said and the codejunkies website warns about that battery. Dunno where to get a new one though. Hey, diagnosing the problem is half the battle. Good luck.

Black Screen on PSP Slim

Hi,

Take out the battery of your PSP, wait 30 seconds and then reinsert it. Then start the PSP up without the charger in it. If the problem still occurs, try holding the brightness button (rectangle icon near select button) for 10 seconds. I hope this works for you.
