Question about KitchenAid Superba Architect KSCS25INSS Side by Side Refrigerator
I have a Kitchaid Superba, don't see Architect written anywhere on the fridge. We purchased it back in 1998...and it runs great. I wanted to change the water filter (first time in 11 years) but can not find it. Does it even have one? The reason we want to change it now is because the water and ice has always had a strange smell and the ice actually has a very light blueish/greenish coating if you let it sit long enough. So we never used it, but we want to now. So I plan on replacing the water line from the sink to the fridge and I would like to change the filter...any ideas?

Sometimes the smell comes from something in the freezer or even the refrigeratior and makes the ice taste funny. My suggestion is to clean out the freezer compartment of anything frozen that has been there a while and may have freezer burn. That may be the funny smell you are experiencing.
Hope this will help you.

you have a frozen defrost drain. in order to fix this you will need to remove all shelves and basket out of the freezer. then remove rear evap cover. one youve gained access to this area you will see at the bottom of the coil an aluminum pan that most likely wil be iced over. clear away this ice then try to flush out the drain line with warm water. sometimes its neccessary to force water into drain line with a large syringe or turkey baster. this should fix ya up.
good luck and thx for using fixya Peyton

this is not a solution, but an explanation- our repair man said that there is a line (tube) containing electric wires that passes from the frig to the door at the bottom of the door, near the hinge. for what ever reason, the line has broken, thus keeping the electric from getting to the motor that dispense ice and water- solution= $700 for a new door; we'll do without
