Question about Canon Powershot A1000IS 10MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

1 Answer

WhenI turn on the camera, the green lights

When I turn on the camera, the green lights flicker. However, the lens will not open. After about 30 seconds, the camera turns itself off. Put in new battery to see if that would help, but it did not make a difference.

The camera sounds like it needs repair.
Make sure that the battery is either full charged or has new batteries installed.
If the camera still cannot start, then call Canon Repair. Go to the 800j number, give them the model you have. If it is still under warranty, it may be fixed for free. repair

Screen black in all lighting. Icons and menu show and can view photos already on card, but screen black in all modes. Can take picture, but it is also black. Lens cover is open. Nikon Coolpix 4600. Thanks...

Hello, I went and researched a few points in the manual and hope this helps to some extent. If this doesn't help, try resetting your camera by removing the batteries for 30 seconds, then reinstalling them and turning on the camera again.
Monitor is blank:
• Camera is off.
• Batteries are not correctly inserted or battery-chamber
cover is not properly latched.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• EH-62B AC adapter (available separately) is not properly
connected.
• Camera is in sleep mode. Press shutter-release button
halfway.
• Monitor is off.
• USB cable is connected.
• AV/Video cable is connected

No picture is taken when shutter release button is pressed:

• Camera is in playback mode.
• Batteries are exhausted.
• Red (!) lamp flickers: flash is charging.
• Green (AF) lamp flickers: camera unable to focus.
• Message "CARD IS NOT FORMATTED" appears in
monitor: memory card is not formatted for use in your
camera.
• Message "OUT OF MEMORY" appears in monitor:
insufficient memory to record picture at current Image
mode setting.

DS lite, power is on but nothing happens

Ditto... except my daughter is 10. Both screens remain black, are fully charged and green light stays on for more than 4 minutes.

Casio Exilim EX-Z60 won't turn on

I have this exact same problem with my camera. My problem wasn't with the lens or the battery, but the camera's connection to the battery. When I pushed the batter all the way in, I was able to turn the camera on. Right now, I have a tiny folded up peice of paper inside, pushing the battery up more inside. This is my quick fix since I am going to a concert!! If you are in a pinch, try this.

Lens is out, Camera won't turn on, power light flickers

Take battery out and clean contacts with an eraser on the end of a pencil.
Then try.
What stage is the lens - all the way out or partway?
OPut a finger on the lens barrel - do not puch it - this will ruin the drive- switch off the wieght of finger may be enough for the lens to get into gear..

Does ur camera ever say "lens error"? It sounds like what I typically hear as a lens error and the only way to fix that is to send it into repairs.

try taking your memory card out and then replacing the battery to see if you can get it to power on and get your lens to go back in. If that doesn't work you will probably have to send it in for repair.
