I have 3 laptops that connect wireless with no problem any where in the house. I have a Belkin card in my media PC that connects fine when in the same room as the roouter but when I move it to the next room, it shows 0 for signal strength and does not find any networks. I was hoping to find some kind of change, tweak, configuration or some other solution for the card.
You said that your wireless works fine with other computers. So i think the router must be working fine. you can try to uninstall and reinstall the adapter. Or upgrade the drivers of the adapter that will help you. Click here for more info about the networking

There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router. 1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from brick or concrete walls, mirrors, fish tanks and if possible locate the wireless router higher up. 2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router. 3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply). 4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

It sounds like your linksys is your main connection so therefor it will not always let belkin connect because your pc has registerd your linksys to be your connection.
do you have security on your wireless network, password etc. like WEP, WPA, WP2 and the likes. that would be the first thing you need to check, second is the type of wireless card and router you are using, on the laptop you might have a wireless N router and a wireless N card on your laptop which might require higher security. you'll need a WPA2 - personal for the key. that you can configure your wireless router manufacturer. hit me back.
If you are connected straight from the modem, your router will not have internet access, only if your modem is connected to the router you will be able to go online wireless. connect your modem to the router nad router to the desktop, so that you can access both wired and wireless connection
it may be as simple as the wireless connection signal strength, as doors, solid walls or any solid object that is in it's line will cause the signal to be very low, and at that point it will disconect from the internet as it is unable to send packets of information to your wireless card from the router.
You can try your router in another telephone point that is nearer the pc to see if the connection drops, or use a different channel number which can be changed in the routers settings and the wireless cards properties as interference from other electrical appliances on the MHZ level can cause signal loss.
Laptops tend to suffer less with the signal loss because they normally have a signal booster in the screen of the laptop within the wireless receiver ariel.
