The tv has dimmed suddenly and the yellow color is almost completely gone. I have reset the color with no luck. Can I replace a bulb to fix this? If so, where can they be purchased?

Not something you can replace yourself - your LCD uses a backlight - sounds like a bad circuit board - not really a backlight problem.

Try unplugging your unit for 10 minutes, plug it back in and see if that solves the problem otherwise you will need to get it repaired or buy a new one - don't attempt to open or repair yourself there are sensitive electronics inside.

Had tv fot about 7 years, at top center of screen an area has appeared that is yellow in color. How can I fix problem?

If it's a 3 tube projector, the front of some of the tubes are cooled by an oily substance. this oil is replaceable. If it uses a light bulb, the bulb can be dimming, the color wheel may need to be cleaned as well as the lenses in front of the light. The DLP chip can also be going bad.

Picture is dark

did u touch the lens or bulbs when u cleaned it? It could be a color wheel problem but i think u should try to reset light tunnel. Did it give you any warning? or did it just all of sudden go dim. I gave u a link to a trusted YOUTUBE tech.. i use his work all the time.
See if any blink codes come up if u disconnect a bulb..good luck

SAMSUNG TV HL-85687W picture is dim

(Please check your model number - it appears to be incorrect, I believe it's HL-S5687W)

1) How old is the lamp? (how many hours on it)
2) Is the lamp an original equipment lamp, or aftermarket?

It's either the Lamp itself (it's not common for a sudden reduction in brightness), -or- the Lamp Ballast has gone bad. This is the power source for the Lamp, and although they usually die completely when they do go, sometimes they will act just as you have described... they fail into a "low power" mode.

If the lamp IS an original mfr lamp, and if it's nowhere close to being near "end of life", then I'd say it's likely the Ballast.

Prices for the original Samsung lamp run around $100 onamazon and others.

The Ballast p/n BP47-00037A has a cost of around $50 to $100 online.

Google those p/n in "Shopping"

The Ballast can be replaced without great knowledge, but will require some dis-assembly, and CARE.

WARNING - Dangerous, and even lethal voltages are present inside your TV set. Do not attempt this unless you are trained in these kinds of repairs. Leave the TV unplugged for several hours (or preferably a full day) before attempting such repairs.

Too much yellow in the picture...new bulb

hi, The only way you can fix that permanently is by taking the TV apart and doing some complicating soldering (the key thing in your description being that the menus come up green). For a temporary fix, try hitting or jostling your TV, because when it becomes normal it might stay normal until another large hit. Or try dampening vibrations by placing it on top of styrofoam or something. Better yet.... just go ahead and buy a new TV. thank you for using fixya, rate my answer

Your "light engine has possibly gone down on you, did you replace just the bulb it's self or the complete bulb assembly? If you pulled out light assembly and replace just the bulb then repalce light assembly, if you repalced the whole light socket assembly and still have greenish color the you have a "light engine problem". Seek repair tech.

Sounds like the color wheel has gone bad and needs to be replaced. This is located behind the back panel.
