How do i fix a presario 500

when i switch on my pc it does not show any icon though the mouse does move when i do move it.
please do help cause am in desperate need

GuruGo with safe mode ( with F5 OR F8 key) and go START -RUN then type ms config then go to STARTUP and desable all ( just don't desable antivirus) APPLY + RESTART!
