The DVD-VCR unit won't accept any DVD - blank or with content. It says "LOAD" but then ejects the DVD. Same DVD works in an identical Samsung unit in another room.
You may have a dirty lens on the DVD read head. There are CD/DVD cleaning kits available at some drug stores and electronic stores. Do not get a "CD cleaning kit" (that only cleans the discs), get a "CD/DVD lens cleaning kit" (it will have a special CD and cleaning solution) for $10 to $20.
If that's not it the DVD illumination LED may be dead. If it still plays CDs, but won't play DVDs, that's the problem. There are separate LEDs for playing CDs and DVDs.
Either way, if the cleaning doesn't work, it has to be fixed in an electronics shop.

Dvd will not read discs. This happened in its first year and had a replacement drive fitted. The same fault has happened again. I am having trouble finding spare parts. Could you recommend a parts supply company.

The dvd player doesn't recognise avi files any more. It seems to be alright apart from this: I get to the part where it lists the avi files on the disk, but then it says it can't play the file format. So it recognises that they're DivX, and lists them, but won't/can't play them. Not sure if this is because of newer variants on avi's, or a machine problem? The dvd player works fine otherwise. Thank you for any suggestions!

A DVD-R disc was used to record from VHS tape on my Samsung VCR 330 combi recorder but this disc will not play on my computer or another dvd player. Does it need to be finalised or perhaps a different type of disc?
