With out a frequency counter to tell you what freq you are transmitting on there is another way.

Turn to channel 19. mess with the switches untill you hear truckers on the highway. then you have got it.

Otherwise pick up a frequency counter on ebay.

How to set swr for galaxy dx44

the same way you set it for any other radio. Your antenna should have an adjustment tip on it , but that's still not a problem . Get an external SWR meter and put it inline with your radio the the meter.Put you radio on channel 40 and the meter on set and key the mic. you should set the needle on the set reading. Now put the meter in the opposite setting and key the mic. Write this number down on paper.Put you radio on channel 1 and do the same thing ,write this number down. Now out the radio on 19 and do the same thing. If your reading on 40 is higher than on 1 your antenna is long and you must shorten it. If it is higher on 1 than on 40 you must shorten it.After each time you do this you should write down the numbers to see how close to 1.5 you are getting. Anything under a 2.0 is good but a 1.5 is what you want. Now you could be lazy like me and just get a matchbox that will do it for you but then you are loosing power to the radio. A 1.5 reading with the box is a 20% loss in power compared to normal output without it.

What are the buts & nubs go to make the cb work which ones trun or push ?

Assuming you're talking about the Galaxy DX88HL, and assuming the mad has been done to reach the 11 meter band, you press the band button in, that put's you to the E-H banks, select the E/A bank which is high bank E. with the frequency counter on, it should read 26.965 for channel 1. If it reads 26.975, then your +10KHz switch is on, turn it off. you'll then be properly set for 26.965 (ch.1) - 27.405 (ch.40). You also have 5 "hidden" frequencies, these are at ch. 3, 7, 11, 15 and 19. To get to the "hidden" frequencies, go to any of the channels listed and turn on your 10KHz switch. Those frequencies are not attainable on radios that do not have a +10KHz switch or a clarifier capable of sliding that far over. To do repairs and for a full list of schematics, diagrams and so forth, I suggest this site, it has the most coverage of the Galaxy DX88HL as well as other galaxies that I've been able to find. http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/galaxy/dx88hl/index.htm .

I have a Galaxy DX44V I need channel 19 only what settings do i put all the switches on ex. high band / low band? e-tone? ect.

Hi, Has this radio been converted to CB? Galaxy 44DX is an import. I am going to say it probably has. Turn the third knob to the right to "AM". And the Fourth knob from the left all the way to the left to "E/E"
Here are two links that will explain it all for you as Galaxy imports are a different breed.

Let me know if this helps. I have a Galaxy 99 and is my favorite. Good luck.

I have a Cobra 19 here in Northeast Brazil. I have it in my car. I can only hear an awful lot of 'skip' and voices in the distance, nothing that seems close to home. Is that because there is no-one close...

Skip is an interesting phenomenon. When it kicks in full force, it pretty much kills any chance of local talking. Especially if you are on what are called "super bowl channels" these are channels where the big boys run. From 10k watts and up. Here in the USA these channels are 6, 11, and some times 26. If you are on any of those channels, you will hear nothing but them while skip is in effect.

There could be people in your area, but when skip is going you would never know it. And even if you did hear them, how could you know with all the noise going on.

Your radio is most likely setup correctly. If you are hearing the skip, then it is working. Give it a day or two for the skip to let up and give it a try.

I'm not sure how the channels in Brazil, as in the trucker channel. Over hear all of the truckers use 19, so if you are near a major truck route, you can always hear some one on 19.

So when it gets quiet again, go on the channel that truckers in your country/area use, and see if you can hear them/talk to them.
