Same problem-- beeps, the Cybershot logo apears, and it turns off. When you hold on the arrow button and press the on button it will let you see the photos. when you hit the play arrow again it turns off.

I would like to know if any of you have tried using my last solution and if you actually took note of the mAh value? Electrical Dealers do not have to supply batteries with the goods sold but in cases like cameras and other personal devices they do. They don't supply rechargeable batteries because they cost alot more, and they know you are going to need to purchase them in the near future with a charger!. A digital camera with multi functions such as a Picture viewer,Video,Sound recorder & flash uses alot of power. Normal batteries dont have the power to run a LCD screen and take multiple pictures like a high charged battery. Most dealers will,if you ask them tell you that a Generic digital camera requires an mAh of atleast 1800. I had the same problems as you have described and took the camera back to the retailer to which i was told i just need to purchase rechargeable batteries.Which of corse he promtly showed me a selection of batteries and chargers! I put them in there and then and hey presto it worked perfectly.

if the camera wont turn on remove the memory card and make sure your pictures are transfered. Try using regular disposable batteries. Also when trying to turn it on try holding down the power button for 5 seconds. If it still doesnt turn on coud be a broken switch connection.

I would start by looking into the memory card slot to see if you have a bent pin. You may need a small light and a magnifying glass to see them.
If the pins are okay, then you can try a reset by holding down the BKT and metering buttons together for 2 seconds. The metering button is on the left, behind the off/on/release.

Thirdly, you can try a firmware update on the camera which can be found here:

Mine did the same thing. Just let it sit for a couple of days. Don't mess with it. It'll eventually stop doing that and work. That's what i did. It worked for mine.

S630 camera not working !!!!!!!

If the camera was dropped, then it's really causing those kinds of issues.

You could still try these steps below:

First, do the POWER RESET:
- Turn off camera
- Remove batteries for a minute
- Reload batteries
- Turn on camera

Second, do the MASTER RESET
- Press on MENU button
- Press on the right button until you see SETUP 2
- Scroll down until you see RESET
- Press the right button to pick up on YES or NO
- Press on OK/MENU button for changes to be saved - Turn off camera for a few seconds so that settings will be refreshed

Third, you could try cleaning the lens with a soft clean cloth.
Make sure you are wiping gently.

Fourth, try to take a picture using this way:
- Press and hold the shutter button halfway first for 3-5 seconds,
and then press it all the way down

Fifth, if it still does the same thing, then your camera needs to be repaired by a technician.

If you want to know where you could send it, just call the hotline of the manufacturer of your product so you could get assistance
about this matter.
