Question about Vulcan 36L Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

I have a 6 burner Vulcan stove with a bad oven pilot light.

I have a 6 burner Vulcan stove that I bought from our local school. I changed all of the orfices and the regulator. also the oven control valve as the thermostet monitor tube broke off. I had a professional technition out to the house to inspect and work on the oven. he adjusted the bypass and also ran the oven and adjusted the balance so the actual temp matched the setting on the knob. Now the oven starts with the pilot light but when the thermostst calls for the burner to reduce from the primary to the bypass the burner goes out from front to back and the pilot goes out. It acts like it is being blown out from some sort of breeze that I can't find in the front of the burner compartment. Any ideas?

Hi! I have the same problem with one of my burners (I have a morice range). I changed the thermocouple, but it didn´t help. I contacted Morice in France and was told that the problem most sertainly was the coil inside the gasvalve. I don´t know if it possible to dismantle the ovengasvalve to check the coil. As for a burner valve, one should open the valve at the end were the gas goes out to the burner to locate this coil. Best of luck LarsI have a 6 burner Vulcan stove with a bad oven pil - ?ui=2&ik=305879aaef&view=att&th=1244dff9c340942f&attid=0.1&disp=thd&zw

Vulcan oven pilot light how to relight

Hello Lynne,
To relight the pilots, start by removing the floor of the oven, then remove the small access panel below the doors. On the main oven burner will be a small pilot burner that probably looks something like this 10_26_2011_9_29_16_pm.jpg
on the gas valve behind that small panel under the doors will be a red button, push that red button and hold it in while lighting that pilot burner...continue tohold that red button for 30 seconds, release it and the pilot should be lit.
Good luck,GENE

We are cranking up this BRAND NEW Vulcan flat top. Weh have the convection oven below up and running, but we can't even see a pilot light for the flat top. Advice anyone? Culinary-yours Chef Geir

older ovens have pilots but the newer machines are electronic ignition, there are ignitors in the oven and electrodes or ignitors on the top burners, when you turn the knob for the burner you should hear a clicking sound and see a spark around the burner, that's what lites the burner, the gas comes in and the spark ignites it,i don't know much about your machine but it can't be any different from other stoves.if none are sparking there should be a spark module in there or they could have separate modules,if you send the full model number i can look it up for you

The pilot lights ok,the burners light, but after sometimes 5 to 10 minutes later both will go out

The gas for both passes thru the FMDA Safety Valve - in you case it's defective and must be replaced. You can find it here

I have an old Vulcan 6 burner commercial gas stove with a 24" griddle. The gas was turned off during a remodel. Now the gas is back on and the gas burners work fine but I cannot get the oven pilot light to...

Hi- This should have a gas Safety Valve, this is the main valve to the oven (this probably has 2). If you remove the lower panel under the doors they are probably right there. Looks like a large gas valve with a button on it, sometimes the button is red. You need to hold in that button while lighting the pilot and keep holding it in for a few seconds until the thermocouple gets hot enough to tell the valve to keep the pilot on. You'll have to do this for both ovens if there are 2 valves. It's possible the valves are located somewhere else on the range so you may have to hunt a bit. If the pilots still won't stay lit you may need new thermocouples in which case I'd call a Tech out to look at it. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I have a vulcan60CL77R stove and the oven pilots keep going out. Also I need 6" pilot tubes for front burners. Can you help?

Yes we can help you. We service Vulcan and we love these units. May I begin to telling you that you have a great range?!! This is either your ignitors or the gas valves, but most probably the ignitors out if the pilots keep going out. I will check on the price and availability of all the parts that you need and respond to this request. Could you please send me your email address? We look forward to working with you on this issue.

I have a kenmore stove 362.7361193 pilot not on

There isn't a pilot light on MOST modern gas ranges. The top burners are controlled by individual igniters through a common spark module. The oven, however, is controlled by an igniter on each manifold. One for bake, one for broil. If you are having problems with ONE of the oven features, I would suspect a bad igniter. If BOTH oven features are bad, you may have a bad Electronic Oven Control (EOC) board. If the oven works, but none of the surface burners are working, I would suspect a bad spark module. The following link explains a little theory on oven igniters:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r401858-replacing_oven_igniter_gas_range

Since your range appears to have a common gas safety valve and regulator, all burners are fed fromthe same gas source. Which means, if you have ANY burners lighting, you probably don't have a gas problem.

I hope you can determine what your problem is from the information I provided. If not, please post back and elaborate a bit more on your symptoms so that I may assist you better. I hope this helps you.

60" double oven gas Garland stove

We use a Garland from the 1960's and pilot lights ARE scary and should make you nervous. This is why they are no longer allowed in new gas ranges. I mounted an inline gas shut off to the stove where the gas enters (on mine this is right in front on the left side). It turns on and off like a burner and when we are done cooking we simply shut off the gas there. To light the burners or the stove I use one of those long reach lighters. I go to bed knowing that NO gas is coming in.
We love the stove, it makes cooking more fun.
Good Luck!
