Before you try rebuilding the carb, which you may have to do, you might try spraying carb cleaner into the carb (with the air filter removed), let it sit for a few minutes, then try starting. In the future, you probably should get some fuel stablizer (available at almost any hardware store) and add it to the fuel that you use for your small machines. It will keep the gas viable for a much longer period of time.
Hope that you are lucky enough that the carb cleaner, a good dose, will work.

You will need a carburetor rebuild. This will include take apart, soak, replace seals and gasket in carburetor. Because the fuel has turned to varnish clogging up ports in the carburetor.

Why doesn't it start?

Try spraying carb cleaner inside the carburetor. Left over gas will clog the tiny ports inside the carburetor. Next time either add stabilizer in your gas tank or run it dry until next season. Good luck!

My car ran out of gas, now it will not start

If high miles, it may be a fuel pump. Fuel pumps usually go when gasoline is low and pump gets too warm. This may mimic running out of gas when there is a gallon or two of gas still left to draw but needle reads empty. Have someone put their ear to the gas tank while you turn on the ignition switch. the pump should run for 2-10 seconds with key on and not cranking.

If you don't hear the pump run, then investigate further for a failed pump.

My 25 horse kohler starts when I put gas in the carb, then shuts off. I have gas from the fuel pump--HELP!

first check for power going to the solenoid on the bottom of the carb its a anti backfire valve if you have power there when the key is cranking and when turned on the solenoid might just be stuck if that works maybe the gas that was left in the carb turn bad

Left side power door does not work by power. does work manuel.

I had trouble with my left side power door recently - someone had 'popped' open the gas filler door - the open gas filler door disengages the electrics from the left side door (Honda safety obsession). Perhaps the sensor on your gas filler door is malfunctioning, or the door (cover, whatever you want to call it) is slightly open. That's where I would start to fix this problem...

Carburetor is probably gunked up from old gas left in system. It will need some cleaning and / or dissasembly.

Have it repaired at a reputable mower or small engine repair shop. When being stored for long periods, run it out of gas or use a fuel stabilizer in the gas to prevent this from reoccuring.

Lights left on, battery totally flat, will not

You've probably flooded it then - TOO much gas in the engine.
Try this charge the battery or use a GOOD one, and beofre yout turn the key push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and hold it there. Then try and start without lifting your foot. Crank for 20-30 seconds at most.
Do that about 2-3 times, then try to start normally.
Holding your foot stops more gas from entering the engine and allows the gas in there to be cleared out.
Flooding is way easy and then can make starting very hard. You have to be aware of this when trying to jump start a dead battery.

Recently I left my truck without driving it. It

Yes, It sounds like the Gas junk in it and has clogged up the lines.
Italso could have electrical difficulties.
As the seasons have changed and gotten colder this effects all things electrical and mechanical.
Also, it could be both, check your fuse block for blown fuses and also check all your fluids.
Take it to be looked at and tested by a trusted mechanic shop so they can diagnose the problem more closely!
