Question about Westell Wirespeed VersaLink (A99-327W11-00) Router (A99327W1100)
Depending on the notebook and the equipment in it. It appears from the documentation that the router 327w supports bands b, g, g+. If your laptop supports any one of those or you purchased an add-on unit capable of communicating on any one of those bands you have the right equipment.
Assuming you already have the router working with the internet you are one step ahead. There is a chance you laptop will work with your router without configuration change. However, I would consider at least one configuration change -- explore WEP or WPA_PSK TKIP encryption to avoid having your neighbors or people on the street on your wireless network accessing any open file shares, etc. The other is to assign an administrative password to your router if you have not done so yet. Third -- keep notes in a secure location about the configuration just in case you forget the administrative password and need to reset and completely reconfigure the wireless router.
