Screen flashes colors

The issue (flashes" colored screens) you're facing could be related to drivers and could be resolved by updating the display drivers. Without the correct driver, the hardware or device that you want to use won't work properly.
Also refer to:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isnt-working-properly
Let's try to boot the computer in low resolution mode and check the issue status.
Low resolution starts Windows using your current video driver and using low resolution and refresh rate settings. You can use this mode to reset your display settings.
Refer the section:

No signal to monitor

Change video resolution through video card settings not through windows settings. Windows settings can be changed by software to a video resolution not compatible with monitor. Common issue with TV used as monitor or low end flat screen don't have as many resolution options as pc or video card capable of displaying.accassing video card settings is specic to which brand you have but won't look like rt click screen settings video/ windows settings

Screen resolution is too big. Unable to correct.

The resolution is set too high, or the icons are too large? If the resolution is too high, the items appear smaller. If the resolution is too low, it gives a "zoomed in" appearance, and everything is much larger.

Has this issue been present since day one, or did it just begin?
What operating system do you have?
Do you have a dedicated (PCI, AGP, PCIe) video card, or are you using the one on your motherboard?

It sounds like you need to update or re-install the drivers for your videocard. They may have become corrupted, and are disallowing your resolution to be set to your desired spec. Many videocards will reset themselves to 800x600 if there is an error with the drivers, making everything seem much larger on the screen.

Computer monitor out of range is being flashed on screen

Monitor is not recognizing the resolution settings that are currently set on the computer.
It is probably sett too high.
You will have to lower the computer resolution.
If it is a laptop, you should be able to do this using the laptops screen.
If it is a desktop computer, you either have to use a different screen to reset the resolution.
or
Sometimes restarting the computer while the screen is on will reset the video.
If that doesn't work, try starting the computer in safe mode by tapping the F8 key while it is being started. This will keep the resolution low enough to see it on the monitor and you can adjust the resolution there in the display properties

Oblong pictures

The issue here is that you have a low resolution picture and a high resolution display. Windows is "stretching" the smaller, low resolution picture so that it will fit across the larger area, thus distorting it. Right click on the desktop and select properties. Go to the Desktop tab. There should be an item there for position. Is it set to Stretch? If it is, then this is causing the problem. Set it to center, and it should appear fine. If you want to keep this from happening: 1) User higher resolution pictures. 2) Turn down the resolution on your screen (this can be done from the Settings tab of display properties).
