Contact Acer and have them send you a new recovery disk. Be sure to have your computers paperwork handy when you talk to them. The problem" operating system could not be found" could be software or hardware related. I'd try to load the OS using the recovery disk first and see if that fixes the problem... mpawlak

If the hard disk is still functional you may have a recovery partition on it, so try this first :
Turn on your laptop. On boot, press <F2> to enter BIOS. To enable disk-to-disk recovery (hard disk recovery), activate the BIOS utility, then select Main from the categories listed at the top of the screen. Find D2D Recovery at the bottom of the screen and use the <F5> and <F6> keys to set this value to Enabled. Save and reboot. While the Acer logo is shown, press <Alt> + <F10> at the same time to enter the recovery process. Refer to the onscreen instructions to perform system recovery.
You could miss this process, if it is so try again.

If there is no recovery partition on the hard drive you need a CD revovery kit for your model. Contact Acer support team and ask for it. If you are lucky you will get one for free or you will pay a very affordable price (10-20$). If not, try to find a friend that has the same version of Windows as yours and you can use it with your activation key (you find it on a label on the bottom of the laptop).

If the hard disk is defective you might need another one.

Black screen after turn on

That "Blue Screen" is also known as "Blue screen of Death".

The problem is due driver compatibilty or unstablity.

Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Last know good Configuration that works"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

If the above procedure fails, again
Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Safe boot"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

Now create a restore point  and download the lastest version of your WI-Fi driver and installed.

This should work fine.

Otherwise Backup all your important data from your hard drive (mainly opearting system file installed drive usually C:\) and go for a new Installation.

Black screen with cursor

Let is set for few hours to see if error or some kind of message pops up. Sounds like a bad drive to me. You mikght go into bios to see if the hard drive is see there.
Replace it with Western Digital,Seagate or Toshiba. The others in my opion are not worth the effort to install.

Hi!
I have the same problem, and my problem was that I have installed 4GB ram and that ram modules wasn't accepted with the new bios. So I installed the old modules and it all worked again, downgraded the bios to one version older and installed my 4GB ram modules and it all worked.
