Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Hi Buddy! Basically E 79 is a general ERROR Code for XBOX 360. If you do not have a spare Hard Disk, you may try removing the Hard Disk and playing on a CD to see if it works. This will isolate to any corrupted file on the Hard Disks.
I also found out this video on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTXw2RkSiMY) giving some pointers on the E79 ERROR. But, I would suggest that do only the thing you are capable to do in the tips that guys given on his video. If simple reset of Hard Disk does not work, better send your XBOX to XBOX Repair Center specially if the 3 years of your unit is still valid.
