Question about Tomtom GO 910 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Go 710 when I turn on the device the screen says "unable to store settings:File access error. Also when I disconnect from PC I have to set it up right from the beginning, the same thing happens if I accidently push the sd card in and it pops out. It won't now connect to my mobile phone where it has done with no problem before. I have sent it away to the Tomtom repair centre. It came back exactly the same! Garmin for me next time.

Upates failed

Try this and see if it helps. Before you run the update on it run the diagnostic and repair feature on the unit first. Then disconnect the unit from the computer and let it boot up. Any errors in the system should be caught by the repair process, once you have done that then shut the unit off and hook it up to your computer again then do the update, once the update is done run diagnostic and repair again. I have a 710 that is just stubborn and i usually find the error in the userinit file. This works with my unit but no guarantees on it.

File Access Error

Check the SD memory card. There is a slider on the side of the card for locking to enable read-only mode. This slide should be up to enable read/write mode

Cant use usa/canada map on tom tom 130 right out of the box

You have the option of unchecking items you don't want installed and updated every time you connect to TomTom Home. Reset the entire unit and update again to fix the error

Tom tom go 300 ''unable to store settings'' ''file access error'

You might have the switch on SD card set to "read only" , This would stop your tomtom being able to write to the SD card ... hence , " unable to store settings " message . .... OR ... the folder where your tomtom wants to store the settings is corrupted ( on your SD card ) so it can't store them.... or similarly , the file is corrupted on the SD card ( maybe the card is damaged ) so the existing file cannot be overwritten . Check out all these possibilities before suspecting any hardware fault on your tomtom ..... GOOD LUCK

Cannot access main menu or pages screen

I think I can help with your issue. I have an LMS 334c and have had a few issues in the past. Called the factory (this answer is not listed any where in your manual) and they instructed me to "Soft Re Boot" my unit and it would put everything back to factory settings. Try this anytime it does not respond for whatever reason.

Turn the unit off.

At the same time press the Pages and Power button. Hold both down until you see the square box come up in the screen. You should have your factory settings again. May need to try a few times.
Lowrance said it works just like a computer, ever now and then it just tries to disect to much information at one time and hangs up.
Good luck. James Cantwell

I just upgraded my pioneer avic-s1 to v.1.01.14... now i'm wondering where i can get the latest map/s

1. Check which version of the AVIC-S1 you own Turn your device ON.
Press [MENU].
Touch the "Settings" tab, and then scroll the pages (select the arrow buttons) to find the "Product Information" button. It should be at the bottom-right.
Close all running programs on your computer.
Connect your AVICS1 to your computer using the supplied USB cable and turn it on.
Wait until your computer has detected your device.
When you connect your device to the PC, in most cases ActiveSync will start automatically and will ask you to set-up a partnership. Please select "No" if this happens.
On your computer, double-click the downloaded [update_V *_**_**. exe] file.
If the update process does not start automatically, open the folder containing the downloaded file by selecting "Start" on the taskbar, and then selecting Run on the menu. Enter the location you saved the downloaded file and click OK.
The update process will start automatically.

Click OK and disconnect the AVIC-S1 from your PC.
Make sure that you have installed Pioneer Sync Manager from the DVD-ROM that was supplied with your device.
If you have problems connecting your device, please visit the Microsoft support website.
During the update process, you should not disconnect the USB cable or the AC adapter, turn off the device, enter into standby mode, or reset the unit or shut down the computer, enter the computer into standby mode or restart the computer.
4. Check that the update has been successful:
Turn your AVIC-S1 on.
Press [MENU] to enter the top menu.
Touch "Settings" tab, and then turn the pages to find the button "Product Information" by touching the triangle mark at the bottom-right.
Touch "Product Information". If the version on the screen is now "1.01.14", your device is corr

Go 710

Hook the Tomtom using the USB cable to your computer. You should see the Tomtom drive under My Computer as a drive letter.

Backup all data from the Tomtom to a folder on your computer. Now select the Tomtom drive and right click, select properties, select tools, and then Check now. Allow the computer to fix any problems with the Tomtom drive. Once this is completed. Remove the USB cable and do a reset. Now turn on your Tomtom and it should work.
