Probably; Piston and cylinder on a homeowner saw may come close to replacement cost.

Find your model number.
Sometimes the cylinder can be salvaged but it involves use of muratic acid. Some threads that discuss this can be found here:

I searched on "clean cylinder" and got many hits. GL

Oil change, amount, type oil

NEVER SEEN A CHAINSAW THAT USES OIL IN THE CRANKCASE.
CHECK MANUFACTURER TO FIND OUT IF IT'S A 2-STROKE ( ALSO NEVER
SEEN A 4-STROKE CHAINSAW )

ALL 2-STROKES NEED IS OIL IN THE GAS ( USUALLY 50:1 RATIO ). HOME
IMPROVEMENT STORES SELL THE OIL IN CONTAINERS THAT MIX WITH
ONE GALLON OF GAS.

USE BAR AND CHAIN OIL. THERE SHOULD BE A RESERVOIR FOR IT.
IT KEEPS THE CHAIN FROM OVERHEATING.
