Unable to boot - A different problem...

Hi, everyone.

I've encountered a problem with my laptop and I'm unable to find the solution - I need your help!

Here's the problem. I turn on the Presario R3000 - everything is working. Then I come to the page where it explains that the laptop shut down due to.......(various reasons including a change in software / hardware etc).

You have a number of options, including start windows normally, start windows from your last known configurations that worked, safe mode etc etc.

Everytime I attempt to start windows using 'last known configurations that worked' the screen goes dead. Whenever I choose any of the remaining options, the laptop restarts and goes back to the same page and the same process begins again.

Has anyone encountered anything like this before? Any solution would be very much appreciated. I hope to hear from someone soon. Thank-You.

Re: Unable to boot - A different problem...

I had this same problem with my R3000. If you select one of the options that will show you line by line what it is doing during startup, you will see that the last line shown is called (in my case) mup.sys. You will get a long path like c:\blaw\blah\blahblahblah\mup.sys If yours dose not say mup.sys, just google what it dose say. If you have the mup.sys problem, at the time there was no fix for mine. I had to do the ol' reinstall windows solution. Don't reformat, just reinstall so you can get your data off then once that is done do what ever you want! Good Luck!

Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key? please help me proceed from this screen when starting pc.

Try putting in your windows disk and using the repair option, your hard drive could be bad or data corrupted, you may have to reinstall windows if you are unable to recover it using the repair console. run CHKDSK /p from the C:\ prompt in the repair console. If you still are unable to access the disk, try reseating the cables on the drive, or using a different power cable. If none of that works, replace the hard drive.

I am unable to do a factory image restore with my Dell Vostro 1310 laptop. I am unable to select repair in advanced boot menu.

You can't select repair from advanced boot menu without CD. If you purchase your laptop with pre-loaded (ORIGINAL) operating system you can restore by pressing F11 while restaring. It'll restore your system as same as you by from showroom. If it is a pirated software you need to insert bootable CD of Windows 7 or whatever you need & restart your system. Press F10 or change first boot device in BIOS mode. Select DVD drive. It'll continue installation...

Hi my hp laptop is unable to startup the Start up self repair is not fixing automatically in the system. It is not opening in the safe mode also. What should i do pls help...

One thing to mention first is if you get it booted. you can always go to system restore which will take it back a few day. If you can't boot at all you can try booting into the bios using the F2 or F12 key. From within the bios you can detect if there is a hardware problem.

Unable to start laptop

I understand the urgency and also the importance of data stored in the laptop.

As the laptop is unable to start in normal mode let us try in safe mode.

Follow the steps below:

1. Turn the laptop off completely.
2. Press the power on button to turn it on and at the same time simultaneously keep tapping ' F8 ' key on key pad until you see a advanced boot options screen.
3. Select 'safe mode' and hit enter.

Thank you.
