Question about Gateway MX3215 Notebook

1 Answer

Screen Helllo, My 14-inch Widescreen Ultrabright WXGA TFT (Gateway MX3215) works when started then dies. Restart will make it come back but disappears. Can use video port to connect into monitor and works fine. Is this an inverter issue with the display? Is it worth fixing. Thanks

Yes, and yes.
If it is still under warranty have Gateway fix it.
If not
Go on Ebay and you may find the part cheap.

What is the difference between mx3231 mx3228?

The screens are probably interchangeable. The two laptops have the same size screens, 14-inch Widescreen Ultrabright WXGA TFT. The major difference between them is that the MX3231 has a CD writer/DVD-ROM optical drive. The MX3228 has a dual-layer DVD writer. See https://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/MagicLC/1009130sp2.shtml and http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Q106/MagicLC/1008831sp2.shtml for the specs of both of these Gateway notebooks.

I hope this helps.

Can i replace my Gateway laptop tft screen with a new lcd screen?

The screen resolution is a combo of:
  1. the screen's capability
  2. the video card's capability
  3. the driver's settings
If the above screen is made for this laptop (as it appears to be), then the settings you had should still be there.
