Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

You have a bad tuner or there is a capacitor bad in the color burst circuit.

SOURCE: REAR PROJECTION TV SCREEN GETTING HARD TO SEE

Hi,
Your TV requires service and cleaning of screen, mirror and 3 lenses (of CRTs) as looks dusty.
Below is an exploded view how to take off front beznet assembly of this TV to clean inside with moist cotton cloth.
Unplug TV before taking off front of TV.

SOURCE: brightness up all the way but pitchure keeps getting darker

There was a post on fixya in about December of 2007 detailing the replacement of capacitor C581 on the "D" board but w/o pics. I can't seem to locate that link now.

But... I just did the C581 fix on my set tonight. Here are pics

Hope this help.

====Disclaimer====
WARNING! There are high voltages inside the set even when unplugged dueto stored energy in some components. Do not attempt this yourselfunless you are experienced with this type of circuitry. I stronglysuggest that you get a professional repair person to do this work.

P.S.
33uF 160V capacitor from www.mouser.com is 82 cents plus shipping in quantity one.

P.P.S
Kids are disappointed we aren't going to upgrade to 52" LCD this week.

How to fix fix my Hitachi Projection TV - model # 61WX01W, got darker and darker and now all dark. Has 3 pictures tubes. How do I fix the problem?

Likely what you have is the three tubes each have a filament--not unlike a light bulb-----someone would have to trace the filament voltage (usually comes from power supply) from source to the three tubes---filament connects to each tube with two connections and is usually 6.3 volts.

How to fix my hitachi 65 tv

If you are saying that the picture is getting darker and you have already tried to adjust the picture through the menu feature on your TV then it is more than likely the cooling fluid around the CRT tubes. Over time the fluid in these tubes gets cloudy and causes your TVs picture to become dull and distorts the color. You can google tv repair kits .com and I believe they will have a kit for your model.

Picture is gradually getting darker

It sounds to me like your bulb is going out. You have a rear projection TV, and since so, there is a bulb that shines the image onto your screen. Because of this, you need to replace the bulbs after awhile. Call customer support or look around online for a replacement bulb and directions on how to change it. Very simple, but takes a little time and effort. :D

I have a Hitachi 57 " rear projection TV, the screen is dark

Unfortunately it sounds like your CRT's ( picture tubes ) are getting weak. You have 3- red, green and blue. It would not be in your best interest to repair it because of the cost of the crt's and if we can still buy them. A lot of analog parts such as those are very hard to locate and is getting worse by the day.

TV will not turn off with remote or manually

That means that you either need to buy a replacement remote (or use an universal remote) , or you need to replace the TV IR sensor, that is a small board located inside tv.

TV will not turn off with remote or manual have to unplugged

I suspect the unit might need service. If it were only the remote, new batteries would, of course, be in order. But that part about the manual power button being ineffective suggests something else is affecting the set. Sorry.
