I have an old electronic game called Simon (see link below that needs fixing.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_%28ga...

I already tried a company an expert suggested but they said no...so was wondering if anybody else might have any leads

  • mjones26 Oct 07, 2009

I've alos taken this to a small electronic repair shop...My guess is there is some component that needs replacing that perhaps only the company may have....However I will seek out another shop

  • mjones26 Oct 08, 2009

Just tried calling the company and they do not have a repair shop

  • mjones26 Oct 08, 2009

    Thanks

    my zipp code is 22042

I agree theoretically just about anything is fixable IF the right part is available- Rigt now I just need someone who can find out what part is needed and if it can be found

Oh Here i somehting intersting tha i found

    http://www.handheldmuseum.com/MB/Simon.h...

and on here is a pdf manual with an adress to mail to for repairs. Is this address and department stil liget?

  • mjones26 Oct 09, 2009

This is an OLD address and I called to find out if Milton Bradley (which was bought out by Hasboro) stil is there and thet are no or at least not under that name. I got the PDF with this address but I'm afraid that I'd just be shipping

  • mjones26 Oct 09, 2009

This is an old address with no phone number. I looked up this address and there is another company residing at this address. In fact Milton Bradly was bought out by Hasboro. I'm going to contact this hand heldmuseum to see if they have used this address recently or not but if not i don't think it's safe to ship my gae out there

    Thanks

Actuall I am having a service echnicion come to my house on Tuesday to look at my game and if he can not fix it at least point me in the right direction. I explained my problem very specificaly to the man making the apointment. This toy was made in the days before cell phones, laptops and all other up to date technology. The call will cost $29

The Batteries in the game leaked and the insides had to be cleaned out. It seems like one of the circuit boards got damages in the process

I have another hand held simon that is just as old and works perfectly after all these years.

I have no knowledge of this stuff so me opening this up would do no good wahtsover

I wish I could contact whoever put up the website handheld museum. It lists an old address with a company that is no longer or not at that location

Abyway I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Someone is cming this Tuesday (washer and dyer repairman) to look at my game and check teh circuit board. i eplained to hi my problem and I'm hoping he may at least point me in the right direction

All of these suggestions have been good. I am hoping suggestion 2 will work....but in the meantime if anybody can locate some expert on circuit boards that is an expert at finding obsure parts then we may be in business

  • mjones26 Oct 09, 2009

Thanks but I'm not giving up yet. Thanks for your assiatance

Not true - sometimes things can't be fixed if parts are not available..

However - I am not saying that your game is not fixable..

Please provide your zip code.. We will see if there is a local service tech to diagnose the issue and hopefully repair it,,
as an alliterative to shipping it out for service and risking further damage from the shipping..

Thank you !

I dont know if this is of any reassurance to you, but i just repaired an M/B electronic board game for a friend, are you proficient with taking things like this apart???if you are, be very careful because the aged plastic is very brittle, but so are the solder traces on any circuit board,i would check circuit solder continuity first before replacing any parts. more info @ dmftrucker@yahoo.com. Thank You ..........Daniel

The best suggestion would be to look in your local yellow pages for a small electronics repair shop. Most of the time these small games have a wire that has broke free from the factory solder or a resistor or other small component has failed. Another thing to do is to call or stop by a washer/dryer repair shop. If they can't fix it, they can at least point you in the right direction. Either way, this should be a VERY cheap repair.

Good luck!

Very possible....but I would try a washer/dryer repair shop due to the multiple electronic components on these new washers and dryer...motherboards and the such.

Instructions for Mouse Trap game

Is it the new Mousetrap game or the old one?

If it's the old one you can find a PDF file online. For the new one call Hasbro on 01632 278770 and they will email instructions.

Repairing or replacing old tape decks

Hi m522posner

There is a surprising interest in "vintage" hifi products these days. Your tape machines probably needs new belts. Check this site out. You can get spares for your tape machine here. Belt kits are $17. He does repairs also, but the transport to and from may be an issue for you. I suggest emailing Bob, he may be able to refer you to someone in CA > I could do the repairs, but I am in Australia. :)

You could have a go at freshening up the belts yourself:)
