How do I empty the ink absorber on a Canon Pixma MP 800

This message means that the Waste Ink Absorber (Where all the ink that is used during Printhead Cleaning goes) is nearly full.

This will require the ink counter to be reset and the Waste Ink Station to be cleaned out. Resetting the counter and not cleaning it out will cause it to eventually overflow creating an enormous mess and damaging property.

If you are unfamilure with dissasembly and reassembly of printers I advise you to take it to someone that has experience with this process.

The Waste Ink Station is effectively a large sponge sitting under the chassis of the printer once you have disassembled the machine enough to get this sponge material out and cleaned it out and put it back in (Or replaced it entirely) then follow these instructions to reset the waste ink counter:

1] Turn off; hold Resume (red triangle in a circle)
2] Press and hold the Power button
3] Release Resume while still holding Power
4] Press Resume twice then release Power,
5] Printer will start in Canon Mode, wait till 'Idle' is displayed
6] Press Resume 4 times
7] Press Power to confirm
8] Press Power to turn off
Once restarted the machine will function as normal.

I stress again. If you do not clean out the waste ink station it WILL overflow and cause damage. Do this at your own risk.
