Question about Electronics - Others
I have a Grudig TK40 that my mom wants fixed. Where in Boston, MA can I get it checked and fixed? I plug it in nothing happens. She has had this for 40yrs. It's the only recordings we have of my father before I was born.
I cant tell you where it take it to get it fixed, but I can offer some advice, as I've recently got a TK41 grundig reel to reel machine.
I'm assuning that the unit has not been used for a while, as mine wasn't.
Mine had the same fault, it was dead when it was plugged in. Knowing that it hadn't been used for some years, I summised that the on off switch was probably dirty... I squirted some switch cleaner in and around the switch...wiggled the switch on and off for a few mins...then plugged in and hey presto it worked!
I hope this info may help you.
PS. maybe you should look into getting the tapes converted onto CD/MP3, so you have a back up.
