Forgot password on my old iphone 4s 16gb

It's the most frustrating thing for us to forget our iPhone password. In order to unlock and access your iPhone normally, you need to reset your iPhone password. Resetting iPhone password is not complicated.

If you have synced your iPhone with iTunes before you forget your iPhone password, you can reset your iPhone by using iTunes without losing data. Through iTunes, you can restore your iPhone from the last backup and remove the passcode from your locked iPhone while retaining your data. If iTunes asks you to enter the passcode, try another computer. Otherwise, you have to follow the reset iPhone Passcode with Recovery Mode section below. The following steps will show you how to reset iPhone password with iTunes.
  1. Connect your iPhone to the computer with via a USB cable that your iPhone has trusted.
  2. Launch iTunes. If you've synced your iPhone with iTunes, then no "enter password" is required.
  3. iTunes will automatically sync your iPhone and create a backup file. If it doesn't, you should sync your iTunes and create a backup file manually by in the Summary window.
  4. In the Summary window, you can see the option "Restore iPhone". Click it and follow prompts to choose the latest iTunes backup to restore your iPhone.

You will now be able to access your iPhone without any passcode. And you can set your new password on iPhone.

How to Reset Password on iPhone

Reset i phone password

It is never a joy when one loses or forgets a password. This is true within any situation.

But what makes it far less joyous, is when losing that password and not being able to retrieve it, can mean the difference between simply resetting a password, or not being able to retrieve or reset the password, and running risk of losing all the data secured by that password, completely.

Welcome to the lost or forgotten iPhone passcode.

a4da0e1.png

The passcode for an iPhone is the similar to a standard password with the exception that an iPhone passcode is only 4 numerical digits long, like that of a PIN or Personal Identification Number, more commonly implemented with bank ATMs.

A password on the other hand, can be as few as 6 digits up to 128 alpha-numeric characters or longer, depending on the encryption protocols which may be used with a password string at any given time.

A Pass code, is not as sophisticated by any measure, in regards to the password, especially with the numerous cryptic and encryption protocols that are employed in the process of creating effective passwords.

But don't be fooled by the passcode... try losing or forgetting a passcode and sometimes it can be a real pain just to restore it or reset it. The iPhone passcode has its challenges in that same fashion.

When an iPhone passcode is lost or forgotten by the user, like any access authentication string, it blocks the user from accessing his or her data on the now locked iPhone. Also, the passcode for the iPhone is not included with the iPhone's backup, so it makes retrieving the passcode nearly impossible to retrieve, especially if you have forgotten it.

So why would Apple make it so difficult to recover the lost passcode?

Why not? What happens if you lose your iPhone or it is unfortunately stolen? Do you want the individual who finds it, or in the perpetrator who stole it, to have access to your personal data on that device? Of course not! So chalk this up as a safety feature from Apple, to protect your private data and information, even in such an unfortunate situation.

Now what to do if you have forgotten your iPhone pass code?

You will have to unfortunately restore your iPhone with iTunes, which will unfortunately wipe the iPhone clean, but, it will gain you access to your device once again.

Now before crying in defeat, remember last time you synced your iPhone with iTunes (hopefully you did that recently)? You see, each time you sync your iPhone with iTunes, iTunes creates a back up of your iPhone's data.

The reason, results from if you do have to perform a recovery of your iPhone due to forgetting your iPhone passcode. Its that recent backup performed by your most recent sync with iTunes, which can be restored the first time you sync your iPhone, after a restore is completed.

Consequently, a restore is necessary, as a passcode is NOT included in any previous iPhone backup file. That is also a safety feature as well, because in the wrong hands with the right tech saavy, but ne'er do well individual, your precious data on the iPhone surely can be compromised.

Yes, you may have lost some files, applications or settings due to not syncing that information more recently. But think about it. It is better to have lost some data, than to have to start all over again, because you lost all your data.

With your previous iPhone back up through iTunes on your computer or notebook, you will will still be able to recover your music, video, calendar, and contacts, thanks to iTunes, but you may lose text messages and past mail for example.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To restore your iPhone is simple:
* Be sure you restore your iPhone on the same computer or notebook that your previous iPhone backup files or stored.

* Now, make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes
• Be sure your iPhone is correctly connected to your computer or portable.

• Finally, in the left column under Devices, click on your iPhone, then click on Restore in the Summary tab.

* Allow the process to complete and your iPhone will be restore to its original factory default settings.

* Now simply sync your iPhone with iTunes and this is where your last sync now comes into play. When you sync after the recovery, iTunes will look for your iPhone's previous backup and per your OK, will restore your most recent backup to your iPhone.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This time, when you set your passcode... Please make sure to write it down somewhere or on something, that is easily accessible and one you won't soon forget.

Yes, an iPhone passcode may only be 4 digits long, but from the explanation above, you can see, it makes a whole lot of sense to keep your passcode closer and another iPhone restore, as far away as possible!

For more information about making sure you are correctly backing up your iPhone with iTunes, here is a good support page from Apple on the subject:

How can I change the Account Settings on my iPad - I do not know the password?

No password, no access. You seem to need to 'Restore iPad' through iTunes (connect iPad to computer and open iTunes, you need internet connection to download system). All data will be lost through a restore, unless you back up (but without password you probably don't access the data anyway...).

Is there a solution for accessing the phone if it is locked via password? Can you bypass the pasword if you forgot it?

If you don't know the password, about all you can do is put it in recovery mode and restore it with iTunes from your computer.

Everything you've done on the phone since the last iTunes sync will be lost, so only do this if you're really sure you can't remember the password.

Lost password

Sadly when you loose a password for an apple ipod you will have to connect the ipod to itunes and restore it. To do this connect the ipod to your computer and wait for it to show up in itunes. As soon as it shows up in itunes it will load to the summary page. You will want to click on the restore/update option and follow the on screen instruction. A restore is the only way to unlock it without the password. Hope this is helpful to you :)
