I'm experiencing red and blue snowy dot patches on my Phillips 50" plasma TV. It is mostly in the middle of the screen and runs from top to bottom. It is most noticeable when the screen is dark with black backgrounds.
I've read a lot of blogs from people that are experiencing the same thing. I'm trying to figure out if this is something I can fix on my own or if I have to have a repair man come to my house. And if the latter, where is the best place to source a repair man?
Thank you.

The TV is a 50' PhilipsPlasma we bought in 2005 or 2006. The television keeps shutting off while we are watching it and then we have to unplug it from the box and plug it back in. It seems like maybe it is shutting off because of overheating but it is not hot. We keep it clean of dust. When we turn it on it works fine but it has been happening a lot lately. Thank you for your time. Jillian Reise
