i have a belkin f5d8233 4v3 router and after a firmware upgrade to v3.01.29 (Aug 15 2008 18:24:38) i am experiencing time outs whenever the router tries to connect to the ISP's DHCP. unfortunately i have not found the version of the firmware i had before and which worked perfectly fine anywhere on the net.
i read that downgrading the firmware was not possible anyway. is that true? if not, where do i get a suitable firmware for v3 of the router so that i have a stable internet connection again that does not disconnect me every time?
It is recommended to perform a hard reset after updating the firmware of the router. I guess you haven't done it that's why your connection keeps dropping. To hard reset the router, press the reset button at the back of the router for 20 seconds then unplug the power for 30 seconds and plug it back in.

We have a 3000 sq ft split level house, so range is critical (could we extend range with antennas, access points)?
Stability and reliability are also critical
We use a comcast cable modem
Must support mixed environment - 2 Macs connecting wirelessly, 2 PCs (1 with a wired connection)
We all want to be able to share a printer (which will connect to router with a wired connection)
Network attached storage, media streaming - I'm not worried about these now, looking for basic connectivity. Though would be great if I could grow into this in the future...
