Ipurchased an LG plasma tv

Ipurchased an LG plasma tv and now a JVC dvd/cde home theater. The dvd works and I get surround sound but the tv does not come throught he sound system. The JVC folks say I have it set up incorrectly but its not rocket science and it doesnt work. There are two sections of jacks. One is red and white and says audio the other set of jacks also has audio but I beleive this is in as the top says in. Also onthe side of the tv are jacks also red and white. I have the JVC unit set to aux what is my problem .
