Go to the setting sound page in the manual page 28 follow the instructions and check if the speakers have been shut off in the set if not the main board must be replaced.

I want to connect a second TV in another room where I can watch dstv programs. How do I connect the second tv to watch the same program in the room

You will need an cable splitter for whatever type of cable you are using (coax, hdmi, etc) and then appropriate let's of cable to connect from the splitter to the tvs. If you have coax cable you can get what you need at places like walmart best buy etc. If hdmi you probably will need to order them from parts express or amazon.

I have a hitachi p50h401 and sound went out. someone said update software how do you do that? Thank You

well if the sound went out it may have only effected 1 output source, What type source are you using, HDMI, RCA, Composite, DVI, VGA with mini adapter? If for example the HDMI, port you are using has simply lost sound to that port, HDMI carries both sound and video so simply moving to HDMI 2 or even 3 may solve this issue. Also i would suspect the cable you are using, HDMI cables are often defective. If you are using coax thru your cable company i would also change that coax from your tv to the hd box.

HD cable question

It sounds like you dont have the right HD box. When connecting HD you will use an HDMI cable or a component cable consisting of 5 cable total 3 for video two for audio. Coax cable is not used to connect HD to your TV / Monitor.

No sound

Are you using a set of sound wires in addition to the HDMI cable? - HDMI only carries the HD Video and no audio, so you still need either a digital or audio cable to pass the audio to the set.
