It could be a thermal fuse inside the unit or the thermal cutout on the mag tube isn't closing again after overheating, or possibly the triac or main power relay

I can't get my electricity to come on

Check the fuse panel first. All the breakers may be turned off to prevent accidental blowing of fuses when hooking up power. There may also be a main breaker separate from the fuse panel. Read your manual if you have one.

Whirlpool over the counter microwave stopped working

SEE THE steps and fix it. and diagrams attached.use the DVOM.God bless you

Line Fuse

Every microwave oven has a line fuse. This fuse is designed to blow if too much current is drawn through the microwave circuitry. The fuse can be replaced, but the underlying issue should still be investigated and resolved. Otherwise the new fuse will blow also.
Main Control Board

If the microwave is not working the main control board may be defective. This is not common. When a microwave stops working the problem is usually the line fuse or within the high voltage circuit; either the high voltage capacitor, diode, transformer or magnetron.

Thermal Fuse

If the microwave is not working the thermal fuse may have blown. It can be tested for continuity. Watch our fuse testing video for more information.

If the microwave is not working the thermoprotector may have tripped. This is a safety device to prevent the microwave from overheating. It can be tested for continuity to see if it's blown2_6_2013_8_43_03_pm.gif2_6_2013_8_43_37_pm.jpg

I have a GE over range microwave. It work fine until one day the power goes out n nothing seem to work. Could it be a blown fuse or it's time to replace a new one. Thanks

first check the fuse in the plug, if thats ok, then there is a fuse in the microwave itself that could have blown, have that checked out first.

It just has no power. Nothing happened, I just went to use it and it was dead.

The main fuse is blown, "ceramic type" usually caused by a defective door switch.

Have a whirlpool microwave model GH5184XPS-4. This morning I turned the "Cooktop Light" on and a few minutes later I heard a small pop, looked over and the lights had gone out. One of the bulbs...

yup most probably that is the case.

you can locate the fuse usually it is placed near the main power supply or just trace the supply cord going in your unit. but before you open your unit be sure it is unplug to avoid electric shock.

slowly disassemble the unit and be sure that you can replace all the screws back to it original positions. after locating the fuse, check if it has a continuity and be sure to replace the same fuse rating. also investigate why the fuse had blown up and look for abnormalities.

if nothing found then replace the fuse and put all back then test the unit. if still it blows fuse, their must be something wrong with the unit and have it service to qualified personnel.

Microwave has no power, no lights, nothing at all. Yes it is plugged in, and yes, the outlet has 115v going to it.

unplug the oven, remove the cabinet if you feel confident in doing this. next, follow the cord from the microwave's cabinet input and look for a fuse. Little round rectangular tube. It is about a half to 3/4 inch long. look on the fuse, it will have a rating like 3a/120v or 5a/120v what ever it is, replace it with the correct value. remember MAKE SURE THE CORD TO THE OVEN IS UNPLUGGED AND USE ONE HAND TO REMOVE IT USE A PAIR OF NEEDLE NOSE PLIERS, MAKE SURE OTHER HAND IS IN YOUR POCKET. After replacing fuse, and putting case to oven back on
Plug it back in, turn on the power and try the oven. if nothing happens then take to a repair center. remember before going inside after cover is off, power off, hand in pocket and touch nothing else only the fuse. if you don't feel confident with this , take the oven to a repair shop. probably fuse is blown. good percentage of ovens are thrown out because no one knows this.

All of a sudden, no power, no lights, NOTHING!

if the microwave is on the same circuit as the refrigerator, it's possible that the micro was turned on just as the refer compressor kicked on. i've seen that situation pop a fuse in microwaves many times - make sure you get a ceramic slo-blo fuse

Danby 1000 Watt Microwave is completely dead. Just stopped working right after heating up a dinner.

you may have just blown a fuse inside the microwave or the transformer inside has now failed and will need replacing but it will need to be looked at to see what exactly happened

Possible fuse -- no power

Replacing a fuse Locate your fuse. Most microwave fuses look like the one pictured to the left. They are usually an inch or two long. Each end is metallic and the center is either ceramic or glass.
To get to the fuse, remove the outer cabinet of the unit, which is usually held in place with a few screws. Once the outer cabinet is removed, follow the power cord into the unit. It will take you to the fuse holder, where the fuse sits. The fuse holder is located two or three inches into the unit, and may be attached to a power board.
Decide if your fuse is blown. A blown glass fuse will produce flash burn marks on nearby surfaces, or it will be completely black on the inside. The internal fuse wire (filament) will be melted and blackened. Ceramic fuses give no outward signs of having blown. To determine if a ceramic fuse is blown, test it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is fine. A reading of infinite ohms means your fuse is blown.
Replace the blown fuse. Pop it out of its holder and snap in a new one. You can squeeze the fuse clips together with your fingers in order to tighten their grip. Replace the unit's outer cabinet, plug it back in, and test to see if it is running properly. DO NOT run the microwave with nothing in it.
NOTE: Fuses do not usually blow on their own. A fuse may blow because of problems with the interlock switches or with high voltage circuitry. It is also possible, though rare, that a power surge will cause a fuse to blow.
