GE DBXR463ED2WW Dryer Turns on unexpetedly

I have to unplug it when not in use or else it will turn on. Also even though the drying is done it might randomly buzz (Reminder that the cycle is almost done). Also You don't have to turn the knob to start it (it will turn on automatically when you set the time.

Either the timer switch/control is defective or you have a broken or intermittant neutral wire and its backfeeding that open circuit to find another current path and this will trigger very strange operational issues

Gas dryer is not drying the clothes

it can be the ignitor as described above,or the gas valve coils on the gas valve getting weak or gone completely,or even the high limit thermostat on the burner housing open and also the flame sensor next to the high limit but these rarely go bad,the thermal fuse can be bad but on these if this goes out the whole unit quits and it sounds as though it still turns just no heat

I have a 4 year old GE dryer, model DBXR463ED2WW, that just stopped. When I turn the start button all it does now is buzz. I have checked the circuit breakers and the door closure / connection.

We always begin with basics:

When you checked the power supply, did you try unplugging the dryer, waiting a few minutes and plugging it back in? Be sure that you are standing in a dry area when you do this and that your hands are dry. This is called a hard reset and may reset the dryers operating system.

Have you cleaned the lint filter?

Have you recently noticed any evidence that your dryer might be getting too hot, such as melted or scorched streaks on clothing?

Has the dryer smelled too hot?
Have you noticed that clothing coming from your washer seems to wet? As if it the spin fuction might not be working properly. Items that are too wet can cause the dryer to become too hot, and stop working completely.

If none of this seems to be a problem, and you have checked the power supply, then it could be the belt that turns the drum, particularly since the dryer does make some noise. Has there been any odor of hot rubber?

If this is the case, I would call a local business who repairs appliances, since yours would no longer be under warranty (Unless you have a service agreement). I would explain the problem and all that we have done so far, and request an estimate for a service call and have it repaired if possible. The lifetime of a dryer should go well beyond 4 years.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Dryer turns, but does not blow warm air/dry clothes. Tried to reset house circuit breaker, which solved the problem about a month ago. Not now. Any other things to try?

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I have A ge DBXR463ED2WW .it takes about 80 minutes to dry A load.dryer seems to only have A fourth to half heat.

This could be the clothes are coming out of the washer wetter than normal, or poor air flow. 80 min in a little long but a lot depends on the wetness and amount of clothes. If the vent system is clear then I would try smaller loads and checking the washer.
