I just got a brand new Satellite Toshiba touch screen laptop yesterday for chritmas and its plugged in and charged over night but wont turn on unless its plugged in. Is this temporary? or is something

As long as the charge is not complete the battery LED remains amber.
Give the laptop the time to charge: it should take 3 to 4 hours it it is not being used, and 3 times longer if it is used.
You do not need to register immediately with Toshiba.

Wont charge

The DC plug in the laptop is worn/charger plug, or the DC jack in the laptop is breaking away from the motherboard.

It wont turn on unless it is plugged into my laptop and i have charged it.

Hi

There are 2 possibilities

1. battery is bad and does not charge itself.
2. The charge board has a problem which is why the battery is not charging and looses power once disconnected from the main supply. IN THIS CASE YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE BOARD.

reply with all the details of the laptop make, model etc., so i can help you more.

My laptop wont go on but it was working fine and is charging as normal

Take out the battery and plug it into the mains and see if it powers on. It should do so unless the power switch or PSU has been damaged.
Also check the power adaptor is firmly plugged in and working properly.

Laptop wont charge battery

its a comment fualt with laptops the micro switch that switches between charge and main power goes faulty on them, you could be acutally onto some thing here because ther eis alot of people with laptops that wont charge at all, and if they knew ur little sequence you got going on there maybe you could save their laptops been door stoppers.

Battery wont work

The battery is dead and it won't charge or hold its charge (all rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles). You need to buy a new battery, or just use the laptop connected to the mains supply.

Toshiba Laptop wont work unless plugged in, i recently bought a new battery think that the battery was the problem and still it doesnt work unless its plugged in. please help me!

Go to CONTROL PANEL / POWER OPTIONS / POWER METER. Is the battery charged or charging?

If POWER METER says the battery is charged, you have a motherboard problem. Take it to a tech.

Do you have a voltmeter?

Remove the battery and check for voltage at the laptop's battery contacts, while it is plugged in. No voltage = charging circuit defect. A blown internal fuse or other motherboard problem. Take it to a tech.

Voltage OK or no voltmeter - take it to a tech.

A qualified technician should have a schematic and other technical documentation for your model It can be rather difficult (expensive) and hit-or-miss to locate possible fuses without the factory paperwork.

Good luck.
