Steam building up within the unit/

The steam pipe after the steam solenoid to the steam arm is leaking which it can be cause just becase the support nut is loose. So if you just remove the top plastic panel you can even use the machine and see which point need to tight it up.
Good luck.

Extremely loud squealing noise during steaming milk

This could be blocked. The best way to clear this is to switch off the machine and see if you can dismantle the frother arm. Sometimes the arm will come off by unscrewing. If it does, wash it in hot water and washing liquid. If it doesn't come off try putting the frother wand into a mug of cold water and allow it just to steam the water.
Frother wands don't just steam liquids - they **** up liquid which can block the vents and the actual steam hole which this machines' problem sounds like it does have.

No rubber fitting on steam arm

The rubber fitting does 2 things. It splits the steam and it keeps the end from bumping too hard. You don't need it but make sure you clean the steam tube well.

Rubber fitting for steam arm

You really don't need it. You should have a cloth nearby to clean the wand when you're done. So if for some reason you need to move the wand (and with it's meagre rang of mobility I don't know why you would) be sure to grab it with the cloth because it gets really hot. The rubber thing is just there to avoid lawsuits I'm sure.  USA USA!

Not making steam

hi tried99X. couple of possibilities: have you made sure steam wand is completely clean? allowed adequate time for water to heat? try looking inside: unplug machine, remove the ten screws on the bottom and gently lift away base: it does have wires connecting it to rest of machine so be carefull not to yank on them. locate the hose leading from the pump to the steam-arm (may be hard to see; use a good penlight and a small telescoping mirror if you have to; Autozone & other auto parts stores sell them for a couple of bucks-if you don't want to take off the entire casing of the machine. does the hose look okay?) also see if the pump has vibrated out of position. also, when's the last time you descaled? good luck!

No steam or pump noise

get a used starbucks barista by saeco for a couple hundred...you'll be pleased. (know i am-and i only paid $25 for my year old breville esp8xl POS). verify it works-it will probably last longer & perform better. if inclined/capable, maybe you can replace the pump yourself (a new one's prob in $35-$40 range; if more, scrap the machine or sell it "as is" for parts & put the money toward a better machine. good luck!

Breville espresso machine 800 ES

I have the same problem. It appears to be caused by a worn steam wand gasket that's inside the steam wand assembly which can be unscrewed from the Breville machine. This was confirmed by the folks at Breville. They referred me to www.thegourmetdepotco.com. That website does not sell the steam wand gasket separately. They sell "Frother Assembly MOdel #800ESXL-250" for $14.95. With tax ($1.42) and shipping via USPS ($5.65), the total is $22.02. A very high price for the failure of a simple plastic washer, but it beats buying a new machine!
