I want to connect a canon eos 1d to my laptop. USB/firewire prob

I want to connect a Canon EOS 1d to my laptop so that I can shoot tethered. I cannot plug the firewire cable into my PC because the pc only has USB ports. Is there an adapter to solve this problem? Or will I have to install a port? My pc is running on Vista. I have no trouble attaching my Canon 400d to PC it has a USB.

Hello' I tried connecting my EOS 1 Mark II via a firewire to firewire cable to change my personal settings. In EOS utility software, the "camera settings / remote shooting" folder still is...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Error 99 on screen cant take picture intermitant

Error 99 is known as Abnormal Mirror operation. Follow the link for help;EOS-1D Mark III/EOS-1Ds Mark III: AF Accuracy Adjustment
EOS-1D Mark III/EOS-1Ds Mark III: Abnormal Mirror Operation (Err 99)

It should be noted that the AF accuracy adjustment advisory is in addition to the previous EOS-1D Mark III AF mirror adjustment service notice. Free repairs are being offered for customers affected by the "Err 99" mirror problem, and Canon is also providing free AF accuracy checks and adjustments for customers experiencing problems with soft focus when using any but the central AF point.

Finally, Canon Japan has published a new manual entitled "EOS-1D Mark III AI Servo Auto Focus Manual" aimed at helping owners understand and get the most from their AF system.

How do I figure out actuations on my camera?

Pre-PMA 2004: Canon today announced the impressively specified EOS-1D Mark II which features a new 8.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, it can shoot at just over eight frames per second and has a 40 frame JPEG image buffer (20 frames in RAW mode). This means that shooting at full resolution at full speed the camera is buffering 69 megapixels per second (or 100 MB/sec). Other changes include the addition of a USB port, an SD slot, the removal of the external white balance sensor as well as some subtle body styling changes.
