Hello John,

What I would like you to do first of all is turn the Power off at the wall to all you Television equipment ie blueray, dvd, sat, etc etc.

What I would like you to do now is connect all your bits and pieces ie your HDMI's to the one's located at the back of your Samsung. once everything is plug in where it should be then I would like you to turn the plug back on to power the lot up.

Now when you look at your HDMI (s) that where Greyed out before will be showen in bright white. What you can do now using your Samsung remote is press MENU then go down to INPUT the arrow along to EDIT NAME then you can label all your bits and pieces whilest The tv is pulled out. This will save you back having to pull this back out to see what HDMI input you have plugged things into.

Hope this sorts you out John, When it does please leave a thumbs up

Cheers

Setting menu and it might be under inputs. Check google for the manual and it should explain it in detail as LG had many ways to lock out inputs.

PIP function does not work, the settings is greyed out also! I have a wii, PS3 and freesat :)

Hi nikkicollier,
PiP for your TV works between two different sources. This means between a component source and an HDMI source or between an HDMI source and another HDMI source. PiP also works with a PC connection, e.g. when using the TV as a computer display. PiP does not work between two component sources. The setting will be grayed out when you don't have a configuration that is supported, as the Samsung TV's are usually able to automatically detect which sources are plugged in and available.

I'm not exactly sure what sort of configuration you want your PiP to work in, but try one of the following configurations.
  • TV Cable (through VCR or other via Component input) with Satellite in PiP (via HDMI input)
  • PS3 (via HDMI Input) with Satellite in PiP (via Component Input)
  • Wii via HDMI Input) with PS3 in PiP (via HDMI Input)
You can usually find an HDMI cable for much cheaper at an electronics supplies shop, Radio Shack, or on eBay or Gumtree.
To change your PiP settings:
  1. Press the MENU button on the remote control. Select Picture and press Enter.
  2. Select PIP and press Enter.
  3. Press the enter button again, and press up or down to change the setting to On and press enter again.
    Note:
If PIP is activated the screen will display in widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio.)
  4. Press the up or down buttons to select the Source then press the Enter button.
Select the source of the sub-picture by pressing the up and down arrows and then pressing the Enter button.
Note: The sub-picture can serve different source selections based on the what the main source is set to.
    Note:
You may notice that the picture in the PIP window becomes slightly unnatural when you use the main screen to view a game or karaoke.
You can download the full PDF manual for your TV here (large download at 26MB.) Much of the PIP information can be found on pages 13 and 14.
Good luck, I hope that helps.

Using the samsung HWC500 as a receiver/switch for home theater. Audio to speakers cuts out at start of each commercial for about 2 seconds. I have cable receiver plugged into samsung through HDMI,...

most likely your samsung has an active search for inputs. normally to solve this problem is to try moving input of hdmi into a different port on samsung reciever or see if maybe your manual states you can shut off this automatic audio switching. what happens is receiver will actively seek another input when sound cuts out like between commercials or movie/commercial because no sound will be coming through hdmi cable for a sec or 2. Read your samsung manual carefully it might state how to get around it but some don't so that's why i say try a different input to see if it will still do it because some hdmi inputs will be more dominant than others or have a longer delay before searching other inputs for audio.

Above pretty much says it. The "Caption" function under "Option" is greyed out. Can someone tell me how to "ungrey/activate the closed caption option?

If the closed caption is shaded out in the menu, this usually means closed caption is not an option. Closed caption can not be turned on if the TV is on component, RGB, DVI, Or HDMI inputs. The closed caption will need to be turned on by using the set-top box or other device that is connected to TV inputs. or if the tv is connected directly to the cable line or anteanna

Hdmi input on pioneer pdp-r04u doesn't work. The component cables work, but not the HDMI. The digital audio works.

the r04u comes factory with hdmi DISABLED, hook up your hdmi device, and turn r04u to the hdmi  input (input 1 or input 3)  then:
To activate the HDMI terminal:
1 Press HOME MENU.
2 Press /  to select “Option”, and then press
ENTER.
3 Press /  to select “HDMI Input”, and then press
ENTER.
4 Press /  to select “Setting”, and then press
ENTER.
5 Press /  to select “Enable”, and then press
ENTER.

there you go
