I have been using my Brother printer for a little over a year now, but in the last few weeks it has started jamming with ridiculous frequency. What will happen is when the printer tries to pick up one sheet of paper from the paper tray, it will pick up several, and the several pieces going through at once jams the system. This has happen nearly twenty times in the last three weeks. It seems to happen more often when I try to print double sided. The paper will print fine the first time, and then jam when I reinsert it to print onto the other side. I found that cooling the paper before I reinsert it seems to help, but it is not a cure all, and the printer has still jammed when the paper has been cooled. Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.
Every 120,000 pages, the paper feed rollers, fuser, transfer roller, and OPC belt cartridge should be replaced, usually by a trained techncian.
Fuser and OPC belt units are customer-replacable.
The multiple feeding of the paper into the printer is due to a worn paper separation pad. part no. LM0711001. If the machine is picking up the paper okay and the jams occur solely from multiple sheet feeding, then this part is probably all you will need. The steps required to access and remove & replace the separation pad unfortunately is about 10 steps. Better consult a tech.
