Heat problem or yes, battery not fully charged (seriously).

Heat: use a can of compressed air to clean out all vents.
Use laptop on a flat surface, not on a pillow or carpet.

Battery: With power OFF, remove the battery. Connect the power supply and turn ON laptop. Does problem go away?
With laptop running and Windows has "settled", put battery back in and charge a few more hours to condition it.

Most likely processor problem. If battery is good and power supply is working.

My laptop shut down every one hours Exactly

Remove the battery and use the laptop with the adaptor plugged in to check if it still shuts down after one hour. Do a similar test with the fully charged battery installed and the adaptor NOT plugged in. If no problem with both tests there may be a problem with the charging circuit or possibly the battery.

My Gateway laptop, NE56R1u, shuts down automatically when unplugged even though fully charged?

Dear Leslie,

I had the very same problem with a HP Pavillion DV4 laptop and the problem was inside the battery - one of its cells became defective and the charge did not last more than a few seconds - it also showed a 100% charged icon but the battery was depleted in seconds.

Before buying a brand new battery you could check with a friend that has a similar laptop if he/she can lend you his/her battery for a few minutes and check whether the laptop keeps on or not with that other battery. In the case it remains on, it is the battery for sure, and you will need to buy a replacement one. Check the link below, for one option.

Hope you may find this information useful!

Gateway laptop shuts down instantly when unplugged but fully charged.

I have come across connection issues on the battery terminals. Make sure the brass contacts are not tarnished or bent. Have you tried another battery?

Charging battery compaq presario c700

If you can reach inside the computer and rub the battery contacts gently to remove the corrosion ,which is invisible , this will help greatly. Sometimes even a new battery will suffer the same. Clean the battery contacts also turn off the laptop and charge it fully do this on a regular basis. Say once every 2 months

Power schemes battery

Chances are that your battery doesn't / wouldn't hold a charge anymore. The laptop runs off battery power. When it is plugged in, the AC power "goes right through the battery", to support the laptop's operations. When the power cord is unplugged, and the battery doesn't hold a charge, the laptop will shut down, as your battery is (too) low to continue supporting the laptop's operations.

The easiest way around this problem is to get a new battery for the laptop.
If your battery is (quite) new (and a Lithium battery), you may wish to see if you can "revive" the battery's "life" ... first by depleting the battery (completely), then charging it (until it shows it is full, plus a couple more hours), and repeating this process a few times. If you're lucky, the battery will slowly/gradually start to hold some charge, but, don't expect it to be very long.
The (preferred) way to use re-chargeable batteries is to charge it fully, unplug it from the external power source, use it until it is depleted, then plug in the external power source to charge it up (fully) again .... and NOT to keep it on a power source all the time.

How do you get this notebook to run on just the battery please?

Hi there,
to use or running Notebook in a battery, simply unplug the battery charger ( power chord) and your battery should be fully charged.

by the way, if ou having the problem of a laptop shutting off when you unplug the charger when your battery is fully charged, there is nothing wrong with the laptop, battery, or computer, it is a power management setting. What you need to do is:

  1. Go to display properties
  2. select the screen saver ta and click the "power" button
  3. In the power schemes tab there iss a drop down window, click it and select "Portable/Laptop" (it is a power switching utility that quickly switches between AC and Battery when the power cable/charger is plugged in or unplugged while the laptop is on)
hope this help a little, ask me if you need more assisst.
regards

Laptop power connection faulty

Hallow Dear,

As your explanation about Battery issue simply I’m advising you to replace your battery with original one.

But before that there is one thing that you can try it out.

---Use your laptop until battery goes down & shutdown automatically then remove the battery and try to discharge it completely with small bulb manually

When it’s on completely discharge (0 Volt) keep it on Outdoor Sunlight about 12 hours.

After that connect it to your laptop & recharge it completely (until Computer LEDs showing you as Fully Charged)

****** REMEMBER DO NOT TURN ON YOUR LAPTOP******
Until its Showing you as fully charged

That will be nice if you can check Battery Voltage & Amperage manually as it is charged fully before turn on your laptop. (if not you can give more charging time accordingly)

This will not solve your any component (thermal fuse, vRegulate) problems inside your battery but will increase your battery Cells Life and most vStoraging problems on Cells inside your battery

Thank you & Best Regards
Dinu….
