Question about Computers & Internet
The Slimtype DVD A DS8A1H ATA Device (running Windows Vista SP2 HP Pavilion Laptop) had Error Code 19, so I went ahead and uninstalled, restarted, and it wouldn't re-install.
''Please consult with your device manufacturer for assistance getting this device installed.''
Thanks for any help!
Under Device Manager, it still has code 19...(the drive is a dual cd/dvd, too)

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:
User Account Control permission If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM.
Note: After you remove the UpperFilters registry entry and the LowerFilters registry entry, you may lose functionality in certain programs such as CD recording programs. In this scenario, you must reinstall any affected programs. If the problem recurs, contact the program vendor to determine whether an update is available for the program.

First use the following steps:
Use the following link, scroll a little and click on Fix It
Click Run in the File Download dialog box and follow the steps in the wizard
When completed restart the computer and check the CD/DVD drive
(you may need to run Fix It twice)
If it fails, there is a manual method to edit the registry. Let me know so that I can follow up further.
