Question about Lexmark Wheelwriter 3 Typewriter
We have a IBM Wheelwriter 3 that when the paper advances it squeaks. The thought is maybe the roller needs cleaning but how should we go about that? Can it be removed for thorough cleaning? Is there maybe some other component that should be looked at? Is there a manual available?
I don't know if you have fixed your squeek, if not lift the erasure table (plastic piece that goes all the way across and sits on the platen) if it goes away put a few thicknesses of tape on the contact points on each end.

The squeaking is caused by lack of lubrication on the Platen (roller) bearings..the feed rolls that grip the platen or the linespace mechanism. Have to be careful on too much oil..I just put a drop on a corner of a piece of paper and touch what you want to oil..it will **** the oil right off the paper. a light oil like gun or sewing machine oil.
Hope this helps
