1 Answer

Camera freezing When trying to view the photos i have taken on my 400d, the screen will freeze on some photos. The camera will not power down when turned off. The only way to turn off the cam after it has froze is to remove the battery. Alo a lot of files are coming up as corrupt or unidentified. The cam is brand new and this is the first time i have used it

Re: Camera freezing

Try a new memory card. also try to reformat the memory card. dont take images you care about until resolved.
i would try to remove the battery for about 10 seconds, and then reinstall, then reformat the memory card. if you still have the same issues, replace the memory card. it that does not cure it, you have a warranty repair to manage.
good luck

When I try to view my pictures on the camera, it freezes. I can take pictures, but I can't look at them or delete them because it keeps freezing. I tried charging the battery but it still happens. Is there...

My camera keeps doing this as well. The only solution I have come up with is to turn the camera off after taking your photo and then pressing the 'play' button to view them. If you press to view after taking the photo it freezes and the only way to do anything is to pop out the battery to reset the camera. I don't know why it happens as my camera is only 8 months old and has never been used under water or dropped.

I received an Emerson 10 x 25 Digital Camera Binoculars as a gift. I followed all the instructions, installed the drivers and the photoimpression5 from the enclosed disc. The download photo does not work....

Hi Brian,
Try this, it may work.It will tell you whether or not it is the Camera or the Software.
Your camera, as far as the computer itself and Windows XP is concerned is a 'DRIVE'.
Try the following steps:
0 Go to the desktop of the computer and in a blank spot right click the mouse and using the
1 Unplug the camera from the computer
2 Un-install the software.
3 If there are no pictures in the camera. Shoot some.
4 Turn the camera OFF.
5 While the camera is OFF, connect the it to the computer using it's cable.
6 Turn the camera ON (you should hear two musical notes telling you that it is connected.
7 Set the camera to the view mode as though your were looking at pictures on the screen on the camera back
8 There should appear a box on the screen. The first item in the box should be highlighted.
It will say "Copy pictures to a folder on my computer using Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard" Click on that.
9 Follow each step of the wizard and deposit all of the pictures into the folder " Emerson Photo Test" Don't Erase the photos from the camera if it asks you.
10 Shut off the camera and disconnect it
11 Open up the folder on the desktop. At the top of the folder on the right select files view to Thumbnails.
If your cable and camera are OK, the photos will be there.
12 To Test PhotoImpressions5, to see if it will view the photos without crashing your computer.
Reinstall it and open the folder on the desktop.
One additional thing. If your Windows XP is not fully up to date, you should download The Service Packs and install them until you get to Service Pack 3.
To check which service pack you have now, if any, go to My Computer" and view "System Information" it will tell you which Service Pack you have.
I hope this helps,
Best Regards,

Are you formatting the card in the camera as you're supposed to? Have you tried going into the menu and finding "reset" and followed the on-screen instructions? Do you have photos on the internal memory? If so, remove your card and format the camera to erase the memory.

When looking back at photos taken, the camera freezes and flashes up 'file error'. I have tried browsing slowly as well as quickly and it still happens, it is really infuriating!

The LCD screen of the Camera may display a FILE ERROR message when trying to view a still image on the Camera if the image was rotated, modified and overwritten using editing software on a Computer.

To play images you have taken on the Camera, it is recommended that you do not make any changes to the original image files.
