This is a common problem with compatible cartridges where the chip on the cartridge is faulty, missing or is not making contact correctly with the printer cartridge connectors. The first thing to do is make sure that the plastic seal has been removed from the chip and that it is free of any residual adhesive etc. You can clean this with a cotton bud soaked in isopropyl alcohol or VCR tape head cleaner. DO NOT USE SURGICAL SPIRIT or any other cleanser as this will either leave a residue itself or damage the plastics and rubbers in the printer.

Once cleaned reinsert the cartridge and try again. If this is still unsuccessful the best solution is to return the cartridges to the vendor where you bought them and get another brand of cartridges or use genuine original cartridges. When you find a reliable manufacturer of cartridges, stay with them. Don’t forget to clean the print head and realign & recalibrate the printer at every cartridge change for optimum results. Also make sure that you use high quality paper for the best images results.

You can try using any type of cartridge but canon will only recommend Canon cartridges. I personally use compatible cartridges with no problem and have now invested in a continuous ink supply system (CISS) for each of my machines and run them with no problems.

Canon ip2700 after refill of Black cartridge ink status still shows 'low' and print is very poor - breaks, incomplete - as ink running out. How to reset ink level, or to disable warning, and to get print...

For your ip2700, even if you reset your refilled cartridge, they are not going to be usable.
After 4~5 times of color refill, you will see e5 error that cartridge is not readable anymore.

So you need to replace your cartridge with new one somehow.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

I have installed refilled cartridge but since the time i have refilled the cartridge and installed it the printer is showing error e-5 what to do.buying a new cartridge each time would be a costly...

Canon MP150

1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)
4) When the LED lights in green, press the Stop/Reset button 4 times.

The above will get you to Service Mode (and clear the Waste Ink Counter if you wish) and is supposed to work for MP160 also.
Caution if your waste ink pad is full you could overflow if ignored.

Some of the new carts reportedly have fuses which blow if the ink gets too low, denying any further refilling.

To use refills, you will probably have to turn off your Status Monitor.
Go to your printer's Maintenance section.

Changing ink cartridges

If you have put in genuine Canon cartridges, contact Canon support for advice.
If you have refilled in any other way, your printer cannot detect ink levels. If you have used a refill kit, you might have problems if you return your printer for repair under warranty as evidence of refilling is the first thing checked for

How do I disable the ink moniter on my canon ipf600 wide format printer

Hello and thank you for using Fixya.

I just wanted to clarify a few things. You need to disable the ink monitor that pops up on your computer when you print?

Please let me know and give me all error messages (if any.)

Thank you,

Jennifer

Everytime I put in new ink cartridges to my Canon Pixma MP140 printer, the ink levels stay at 'running low'. Why?

If it is a brand new cartridge it will show as full. If you have refilled your ink then it still shows as low. Their should be an option in your printer settings to turn off that annoying warning.

Ink wont reset

u need to go into printer settings and untick the status monitor to allow the printer to recognise refilled ink. the two ink monitors will then show blank so keep an eye on the print quality to determine the ink levels.

Reset Ink levels for canon mx310

I've heard that with canon there is a way around the ink-level chip monitoring on the cartridge by doing the following:
  1. Power off printer
  2. Hold RESUME button then press and hold POWER, the beeper will sound once.
  3. Hold POWER and release RESUME
  4. Press RESUME twice
  5. Release POWER button
  6. When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME three(3) times. The indicator should be orange.
  7. Press POWER to set data

PIXMA MP160 ink level reset

If you hold the resume/stop button on the printer for 10 seconds when you go to print it shouldn't give you anymore messages about that cartridge. This printer never forgets a cartridge and you may have to do it for each one you buy, unless you always refill the same one.  For a PC you can disable the status monitor of the ink by going into control panel, printers & faxes then right clicking on your printer. click properties. pick the maintenance tab then "view printer status" button. click option the click enable status monitor .. then click OK.  If you do this your printer will never tell you if ink is low anymore.
hope this helps everybody.  I know I was frustrated about it!!
