I have replaced the motor control board but still have the problem. I think that the CCU board needs to be replace but what I need to know is the Electonic control board and the CCu board the same thing?

Re: F11 CODE on 110.45966400
The ECU is often referred to as the CCU. F11 is Serial Communication Error Between MCU and CCU - Disconnect power and unplug unit. Check wire harness connections to the motor, Motor Control Unit (MCU), and Central Control Unit (CCU). Check the drive system for any worm or failed components and reconnect power and plug unit in. Verify CCU is working by performing diagnostic test or any cycle. Check MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor and check drive motor for powered rotations. Also check the motor and wire harness. Replace defective part

F11 Serial communication error Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
• Check Wire Harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU) • Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components • Check MCU • Check CCU • Check Motor • Check Wire Harness
Replace failed component.

My wife loved the Whirlpool Duet washing machine when she first got it, but now I think she would be happy to push it off of a cliff. We haven't even had it 2 years and about once a week it stops working in mid cycle. It beeps, flashes F11 error code, stays locked and there is no way to unlock it to get the wet clothes out. We have tried unplugging it to reset it. Sometimes this method works but sometimes it doesn't and when that happens, the wet clothes are stuck inside the machine...sometimes overnight. We've called the repairman a couple of times ($50 a pop) to unlock the door and get it started again. The repairman told me this is an extremely common problem with the Whirlpool Duets. Some of the computer units must have been faulty. It's hit or miss for those of you who are thinking about purchasing this and the problems usually start after the first year or two.
TIP: If your machine displays this error code and it is within the time period of your warranty, get the CCU replaced ASAP. Don't let Whirlpool stall while your warranty runs out. You should have a 1 or 2 year warranty which covers electronics.
We have to buy a new door lock and have the CCU replaced. The problem is that the new part is not guaranteed...not even for one day so if we get another faulty unit, we'll have the same problems again after a year of use.
Starting to see these fault codes pop up in these otherwise fine machines. The F/11 code is just a generic code generated when there’s a communications error between the two main control boards in the washer. These two boards are the Motor Control Unit (MCU) and the Central Control Unit (CCU).
A common problem is the wiring harness jiggling loose; remove and reseat it and that usually fixes it. If not, then you’re looking at spending some money on control boards. Yes, I said boards, plural. The really sucky part is that there’s no way to definitively and conclusively prove which board, the MCU or the CCU, is at fault so, unfortunately, that only leaves trial and error.
F70 means the main control board is not communicating with the cycle selector/touch pad control F71 means the cycle selector/touch pad controlis not communicating with the main control board
What needs to be checked is the wires between the main control(CCU) and the selector(user interface) for good tight connections If all connections are good and tight the CCU has to be replaced IF the drum will rotate under power from the motor
OR if the drum will NOT rotate under power of the motor the USER INTERFACE needs to be replaced
Serial Communication Error
Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
Check Wire Harness
there's a possibility you may need to repace the motor controller(ccu) but most likely you have a bad connection between the main control(the front board) and the CCU(the board inside the washer). you need to unplug washer and get iside to check wire connections. good luck to you.
The F11 code is saying that there's no communication between the motor (motor control board) and the CCU. Both the MCB and CCU are just big circuit boards. Most often the F11 shows-up with the FdL code (door lock) in either case the problem is cold solder joints on the CCU at the points where the relays and spade connectors are supposed to be connected to the board. The CCU is located in the machine at the top, back, You'll need to remove the circuit board and have those solder joints redone. It's easier to unplug all the connectors to the CCU then take out the whole unit and then take out the circuit board at the table wile you're cursing whirlpool. If you're not to handy with a soldering gun you may want to print off this response and take the board to a good appliance repair shop. Good luck.
The F11 code means that the computer control board (CCU) is not communitcatind with the motor control board (MCU). I have tried manually fixing this problems a number of time by unplugging and plugging in all of the terminal on the entire machine, and its worked about 50% of the time. First try this and if it doesnt work you will need to replace the CCU. You can order it at, http://www.reliableparts.com/ using your model number.
It is probably the CCU (main control). Wiring harness, motor and drive train must be checked before replacing the CCU.
Here full troubleshooting for F11.
is communication error between CCU (main control unit) and MCU (motor
control unit - additional control module connected to motor and to CCU,
located in a sealed box inside the washer).
usually means that either CCU or MCU is defective. In some case the
connectors or the wiring harness connecting the two modules is the
The tech sheet says:
F11:Serial Communication Error Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Solution: * Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU) * Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components * Check MCU * Check CCU * Check Motor * Check Wire Harness
wiring harness is tested using a multimeter to ensure that there is
continuity between the MCU and CCU connectors. If a single wire is good
it will read zero Ohms (closed) from contact to contact. Motor is tested reading Ohms, it must be read about 6 Ohms on three different pairs of contacts. Drive system in motor is checked observing if any of the parts are broken. MCU
and CCU are tested reading volts during operation and testing at
component level. The testing must be done by a tech. Check CCU to see if
there is any sign of failure (eg burnt spots).
Most of the time
the problem is CCU. Trick to repair it include testing and eventually
reheating the solder joint of the two on-board relays, cleaning
connector contacts with circuit cleaner solution. This in case that the problem is CCU.
Disconnect the unit from power for five minutes as first test. This will reset CCU.
Thanks for using FixYa. F11 is a communication error between the central control unit (CCU) and the motor control unit (MCU). As you have already replaced the CCU then to start with check the wire harness connections between CCU and MCU, and then check the motor. If both of them appear to be working fine then it seems that the MCU of your washer has gone bad as the control unit seems to be working fine. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
