Check all your volume etc. If this doesn't work then maybe ring another phone (cell) and put them both on Loudspeaker and put them next to each other and say somthing like aaaaaaaa into the Razr and see if it echos. If so there is nothing wrong.

This can happen occasionally - it could just be the particular connection. The microphone in your handset could be shot as well, OR clogged with dirt or dust. Try a voice recorder app, or try using voice search - if your phone is not responding, there could be trouble with the mic.
make sure your mic isn't muted, make sure the mic icon in the top right of the screen isn't highlighted red, touching that turns the mic on and off, if its not that the mic mic be faulty, test it with the voice recorder
These phones have been known to have some mic problems (usually buzzing) when the mic's connector wire becomes loose from the mainboard. This happens most likely during shipment of the phone.
Though it definitely sounds as though the mic is not working, just to be more convinced it is the mic, try doing a voice recording to see if that fails as well.
Unfortunately the only 2 ways of fixing it are taking the chance yourself to take the phone all the way apart without breaking it to get at the mainboard connection and secure the mic wire, if that's truly all it was, or to send the phone back for replacement.
Hello. Your mic actually went bad from either liquid damage or a small bump. You need to have the mic either replaced at a motorola service center. Or you can do it yourself. It is quite easy. Just buy the mic from ebay for any old v series motorola phone v300 v400 v500, they are all the same. and just install it yourself. If you dont have a local service center in your area, cant find the part or cant do it yourself, look in my profile and i am sure we can help you out. If you found this helpful, give me a rating!
